WARNING: The following contains spoilers for "Mask Alert!" in Future State: Dark Detective #2 by Joshua Williamson, Giannis Milonogiannis, Jordie Bellaire, and Troy Peteri, on sale now.

DC's "Future State" has really left the Bat-Family fractured, with Bruce Wayne on the run after being assumed dead. Tim Drake's in trouble with the Lazarus ResinNightwing's been broken, and the Batgirls are in jail. Simply put, they've never been decimated like this, which is even worse now that Jason Todd has betrayed them and is hunting masks for the Magistrate.

However, in Dark Detective #2, the Red Hood back-up story reveals the biggest traitor isn't Jason, it's his on-and-off fling and former Titan, Ravager.

It's no secret Rose Wilson has daddy issues being Deathstroke's daughter, which makes her a kindred spirit for Jason. He's never gotten over his hatred of Bruce in this story, so they fit together, as warped as it may be. Here, it feels like a continuation of their New 52 romance or something the Titans TV show is trying to accomplish with them as Jason looks to take vigilantes in alive. He isn't into killing, however, as he thinks they can be rehabilitated by the Peacekeepers and eventually help fix a damaged Gotham.

Sadly, Rose prefers them dead, which is making her popular with law enforcement, as well as filling her bank account. It helps that she's got precognitive powers, but as much as she wants Jason to give in to that dark side -- something he's done in the past -- he won't. This gets put to the test once more when their paths cross again trailing the Red Hood gang to the Narrows. Rose keeps trying to corrupt him but as much as Jason thinks the city's broken, places like the soup kitchen in the Narrows are still pure. But when he abandons Rose and tries to ascertain more about the Red Hood gang, it falls apart. He spots a member of the gang running out of the soup kitchen but when he tries to help the thief, Rose arrives and slices him in half. He seems to be a teen, leaving Jason shocked as it reminds him of his wayward, hungry days on the streets.

Sadly, Rose doesn't have that same empathy because if she did, it'd ruin her job. To her, a criminal is a criminal and she prefers body bags over redemption. It's shocking given she was a Titan in the past and this may be why Dick felt like that group wasn't a symbol that could stand up to the rising darkness across America anymore. They couldn't foresee how awkward this mission is getting, though, as they hunt the people using the Mad Hatter tech to control the Red Hood gang. That's because they get a notification that a bounty's out on Jason's head for his virtuous actions, leaving Rose the tough choice of bringing her lover in.
