Midtown Comics' exclusive variant cover for the second issue of DC Comics' zombie-themed event series DCeased carries a very simple theme: revenge. The variant, which comes from artist InHyuck Lee, sees the Joker receiving his long-overdue comeuppance at the hands of a zombified Jason Todd/Red Hood.RELATED: DCeased Gets Terrifying Horror Movie Variants From Yasmine PutriLee's DCeased #2 variant homages one of the most iconic and controversial Batman storylines in history, "A Death in the Family." That story saw the Clown Prince of Crime brutally beat Jason Todd, who was Robin at the time, with a crowbar before leaving him to die in a building that was rigged to explode. Of course, this set the stage for Jason to eventually return as the Red Hood, a merciless vigilante who does not share Batman's rule against lethal force. In Lee's variant, the tables have effectively been turned, with Jason holding the crowbar and Joker begging for his life.

Moreover, this new variant connects to Lee's DCeased #1 variant, which features a zombified homage to the iconic scene of Lois Lane holding Superman in her arms from "The Death of Superman."

Midtown asked its followers if they'd like to see this trend continue for the DCeased's entire run, to which series writer Tom Taylor replied, "I'd most definitely like to see the whole series done. Followed by a poster." Lee himself shared Taylor's sentiment.
