WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Red Hood: Outlaw #49, by Scott Lobdell, Paolo Pantalena, Arif Prianto, and ALW's Troy Peteri, on sale now.

The events in Red Hood: Outlaw has been some of Jason Todd's biggest trials, not just as a leader, but as a man. After adopting his own team of metahuman kids and schooling them with Ma Gunn, he's now found himself trying to save Bizarro after the dark Superman came back with Artemis from a secret dimension.

However, in Issue 49, as the warped Man of Steel tries to help stop the Chamber of All from collapsing, he's taken off the table but Bizarro does get a demonic upgrade as he officially takes hold of Trigon's throne.

Jason and the present-day Outlaws, as well as a time-displaced version of Jason, Arsenal, and Starfire, are trying to plug a portal that'll stop the Untitled, zombie-like monsters, as well as Hell from spreading across the planet. But on the other side of this rift, Bizarro's basically their inside man, going in only to discover it's Trigon's army that's trying to spill over. However, in a fight with Trigon, Bizarro ripped out the demon king's heart and now all his subjects are bowing before him as the winner gets control of the domain.

Bizarro refuses the crown, though, and when he tries to shut the rift from the inside, a slew of demons try to swarm and escape. Bizarro uses his freeze breath on them, however, and makes it clear they cannot leave, not under his watch. At this point, he knows what needs to be done, even if he's reluctant to do so as he'll miss his friends. Bizarro appears to Jason's crew and helps them seal the hole, but he admits he has to make the big play: a sacrifice to stay in Hell as king because ruling the demons is the only way to keep them in check and stop them from trying to invade Earth.

He embraces his allies as Jason and Artemis went through so much with him, including helping him transform from an experiment into his own man. After saying goodbye, with the rift sealed and the Chamber protected once more, the past Outlaws return to their time while Jason and Artemis mourn the loss of their bestie. Bizarro looks on from his fiery kingdom, sad that he can't be there to go on heroic adventures anymore and look after his friends as he did come off like a big brother.

It'll be interesting to see how Raven reacts to the news that Trigon is dead and also, just how long he'll stay in the grave. As for Bizarro, we can see him being a benevolent ruler as he knows that misunderstood creatures need guidance, which could make him the perfect mentor for the legion of monsters now at his fingertips.
