Red Canary, a new legacy character who seemingly has ties to Black Canary, will be introduced in DC's Dark Crisis #3.Dark Crisis writer Joshua Williamson posted the announcement and a character design for Red Canary onto his Twitter account. "Introducing to DARK CRISIS...a brand new legacy character... RED CANARY," he posted. "Character design by the amazing [Dan Mora]! First appearance in DARK CRISIS #3 out in August! @thedcnation! Red Canary - DC's Latest Legacy Character Arrives in Dark Crisis

The character design for Red Canary sees her dressed in a somewhat similar outfit as Dinah Lance/Black Canary, though her costume comes equipped with a red jacket, stockings and sneakers. While little else is known about Red Canary at this time, online fans pointed out that she shares a resemblance with Emiko Queen, a sidekick to Oliver Queen/Green Arrow introduced in 2013's Green Arrow #18 who goes on to become the second Red Arrow following Roy Harper.

Both Black Canary and Green Arrow were seemingly killed by Pariah and the Dark Army in Justice League #75, which was written by Williamson and features art by Rafa Sandoval. DC has since revealed that the Justice League -- apart from Black Adam, who was the sole survivor of the attack -- may not actually be dead but, instead, are trapped in separate worlds that cater to their every dream and desire.

Dark Crisis follows the events of Justice League #75 and sees Jonathan Kent attempt to create a new Justice League to protect the planet from a series of oncoming threats. Dark Crisis #1 sees Deathstroke and the Secret Society of Super Villains launch an attack on the Teen Titans' Titans Tower after Slade Wilson murders Beast Boy in cold blood.

DC has previously revealed that Dark Crisis #3 will focus on Hal Jordan/Green Lantern leading an attack on Pariah and the Dark Army. The synopsis for the issue reads, "THE BATTLE OF THE EMERALD ARMY HAS BEGUN! Hal Jordan has launched all-out war on Pariah and the Dark Army to avenge his fallen Justice League teammates—but how can one man stand in the way of the Great Darkness? Meanwhile back on Earth, Titans Tower has burned and Deathstroke’s army has continued its scorched-earth march across the planet. To stop Slade Wilson, the young heroes of the DCU might have no other choice than to turn to the brutal tactics of Black Adam…"

Dark Crisis #3 comes from Williamson, artist/cover artist/variant cover artist Daniel Sampere and variant cover artists Lee Weeks, John Giang, Ethan Young and Michael Allred. The issue releases Aug. 2 from DC.
