The endless runner mobile game Temple Run is being adapted for television as a competitive reality series.

The show will feature contestants attempting to survive a hazardous course of obstacles based on the Temple Run games. Details are still sparse but Temple Run developer Imangi Studios and production company A. Smith and Co. Productions confirmed that they will be revealing more information will be announced at a later date.

The course for the Temple Run series will be designed in such a way as to make contestants "feel like they entered a portal into a world filled with wonder, adventure, surprising twists and challenging obstacles."

A. Smith and Co. Productions is best known for its work on unscripted competitive reality shows. Its catalog includes successful series such as American Ninja WarriorAmerican Ninja Warrior Junior and Hell's Kitchen. According to Arthur Smith, chairman of A. Smith & Co. Productions, the Temple Run series will require "speed, agility and quick decision-making" from contestants.

At the time of writing, Temple Run is sitting on 2 billion global downloads. In 2013, Warner Bros. revealed that it was in talks with producer David Heyman to adapt the mobile game into a feature-length film but has yet to share any further details on the project. Temple Run has also been adapted into a digital comic book series available through a dedicated app.

Both Temple Run and Temple Run 2 are available for free on Android and iOS.
