The following contains minor spoilers for My Dear Maid! Episode 50, by SpringIsComing and Bori, available now in English from Manta.

The final chapter of the Manta webcomic My Dear Maid! was not received well by fans -- at all.

Based on the webnovel by SpringIsComing, the story follows an orphan named Kate who rescues a young woman named Rose Blanc after three men kidnap her. Soon afterward, she enters the Blanc Estate to serve as a maid, where she meets a mysterious blond red-eyed priest. Unbeknownst to her, the priest is actually the heir Alexandros Blanc whose name casts fear and trepidation into people's hearts. My Dear Maid! concluded with 50 episodes on Sept. 8, but after reading the final episode, readers were left confused, frustrated and angry.

Fans flooded Reddit and TikTok to express their frustrations. TikTok user ihateitherelol said they were "so shocked that [they] couldn't be upset. And that's saying something." Another TikTok user lillydrea used an Avatar: The Last Airbender meme of Zuko looking through a scroll in utter confusion, saying "That can't be it. Where's the rest of it?" The reviews on Reddit were much stronger, with many comments wondering why they had spent so much time reading the webcomic and comparing it to the likes of the disastrous ending of Game of Thrones.

There was so much backlash to the final episode that Manta issued a statement:

Dear readers of My Dear Maid!,

Thank you for your constant love and support toward the series My Dear Maid! We sincerely apologize for the confusion and frustration regarding the last episode of the series. We are very sorry for the distress you must have felt with the unexpected ending.

For those who are curious, the English version ended exactly as the Korean version did, which similarly left Korean readers in the same rage-filled boat as the English readers. The last episode had Alex confess his love to Kate after revealing his true identity, but she rejects him coldly, even though readers have noted that it's clear she returns his feelings. There has, so far, not been any further explanation as to why the webcomic ended so suddenly or whether it would ever see a proper ending.

Other than My Dear Maid!, readers have a whole slew of other romance options to read on Manta Comics, such as Under the Oak Tree and The Accidental Heiress.
