WARNING: The following article contains spoilers for Ravencroft #1, by Frank Tieri, Angel Unzueta, Rachelle Rosenberg, Dono Sánchez-Almara and Joe Sabino, in stores now.

During the Absolute Carnage event, Cletus Kasady's attempt to go after everyone who had ever bonded with a symbiote led to the partial destruction of the Ravencroft Institute. Akin to DC's Arkham Asylum, Ravencroft is an institute for the criminally insane, and it can, at times, house the most dangerous and deranged villains in the Marvel Universe. After the threat of Carnage had passed, it was decided that Ravencroft should be demolished, and rebuilt into a better care center for criminal reform.

In Ruins of Ravencroft, it became apparent the efforts to rebuild the institute tied to the secrets of its past. The biggest surprises came when Wilson Fisk, the current mayor of New York City, was revealed as the new figure behind the institute, and Norman Osborn, formerly the Green Goblin, was one of its principal consultants. But it turns out that's not even the worst of it as the full staff of the Ravencroft Institute has been unveiled -- and it's filled with dangerous supervillains.

Ravencroft #1 picks up soon after the ends of Ruins of Ravencroft: Dracula #1 with the operating being officially reopened, and the first crop of prisoners/patients successfully transferred. So far, the only members of the staff working at the Institute are Misty Knight, John Jameson and Osborn. Later, in Ravencroft #1, it's also revealed that D-Man is now working there as a guard.

But the big question throughout most of the issue is the identity of the Ravencroft Institute's staff of specialists. Members of the press are justifiably curious about Fisk's chosen team of specialists, but he insists he is keeping their identities safe as a matter of security.

But when the issue comes to a close, it becomes clear why Fisk didn't divulge the identity of the staff members: they are actually all active supervillains. He wasn't keeping the secret for safety concerns, but to hide his plans. As it turns out, the institute's new employees are Taskmaster, Scorpion, Moonstone and the Hobgoblin. Of course, for the sake of appearances, they are out of costume, and wearing professional clothes for their new jobs -- but Misty and John know exactly who they really are.

As it stands, the Ravencroft Institute is now run by Wilson Fisk, who has Norman Osborn working as a consultant, and a staff comprised of four supervillains. Clearly, this doesn't bode well... for anything. Fisk likely has special plans for the psychiatric hospital and its patients. Right now, the problem in the new institute isn't the patients themselves -- it's nearly the entire staff. Luckily, there are still a few heroes around to keep the peace, at least for the time being.
