The release of Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart presents a new opportunity for Insomniac Games to explore mind-bending multi-dimensional gameplay in their Playstation series. Dealing with alternative dimensions allowed for the inclusion of Rivet, the Dimensional counterpart to Ratchet.
Though players might assume that her life was identical to Ratchet, Rivet is an astounding mystery to many. Additionally, many might wonder about her Backstory, considering Ratchet has roughly 10 different games under his belt.
10 Rivet's Home Planet Is Sargasso: The Swamp Planet Full Of Monsters And Morts

Rivet's backstory is still a little uncertain. Not much is known about her parents or how she came to live on Sargasso. Sargasso first appeared in Ratchet & Clank: Tools of Destruction. The Planet is described as a swampy planet filled with various monsters and enemies.
In Rift Apart, Rivet appears to have a working relationship with a local species called the Morts. These Creatures work on Gelatonium refineries and have taken in Rivets as part of the Mort Family.
9 Rivet Made Her Own Robotic Arm- As Tech Savey As Any Other Known Lombaxes
One key feature many gamers had noticed in Rivet's design is her yellow robotic arm. This cybernetic enhancement was done out of necessity as Rivet lost her arm in an encounter with an Emperor Nefarious Robot who shot it off.
After that close encounter, she built a new arm for herself. Though it does not have any mechanical properties in the game, it adds an amazing feature to her character and her abilities, all shown in just her design.
8 Rivet Must Have Taken Dance Lessons At Some Point- This Lombax Can Move
This fact is a bit silly, but it does reveal a fun and whimsical side to her character. As an example, in Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, there is a known space outpost called "Zurkie's Gastropub and Battleplex," where there is an active and detailed bar/battle arena.
There is a Jukebox on the other side of the bar that the players can interact with. Rivet is the only player character that interacts with the Jukebox and dances to the multiple songs the players can unlock. Rivet knows all of these incredible and complex dance moves, so she either practices a lot on her own or has taken lessons at some point.
7 Rivet Is Voice By Jennifer Hale
One that many players might be surprised to learn is that Rivet Is voice by Jennifer Hale. Jennifer Hale has a prolific career in voice acting, and many gamers will immediately recognize her as the female voice of Commander Sheppard in the Mass Effect Series.
Jennifer Hale not only brings a commanding presence in portraying Rivet as a persistent Rebel leader but also creates a fun and caring personality for Rivet.

In the early stages of development, the team was considering having Ratchet's dimensional be another Ratchet.
They scrapped the idea and instead, the development team opted to create a character that was "true to their core character, but their circumstances shape that and the events they have been through."
5 Rivet Has An Innate Disttrust Of Robots- What With Her Dimension Being Ruled By A Robot Overlord This Makes Sense
The idea behind Rivet's world is centered around one question: what if Nefarious had won? As a result, rivet's dimension and her whole galaxy are ruled in a cruel dictatorship by Emperor Nefarious, a cunning and ruthless ruler.
Growing up in this world, Rivet understood very quickly that many robots were not to be trusted. To add to this distrust, her arm was destroyed by one of Emperor Nefarious's Warbots.
4 Rivet Became A Resistance Leader Very Early On
Since Emperor Nefarious had taken over the galaxy quite early on in his career, Rivet had to stand up to be one of the resistance leaders quickly. As a result, she, along with her dimensions version of Skid McMarks, had become Rebal leaders in the galaxy.
This quickly became an issue for Nefarious and promoted her as an Enemy of the Galaxy. It is unclear how long Rivet has been part of the resistance. However, it seems that her career has spanned long enough to make her the most wanted Lombax on Emperor Nefarious's list.
3 Rivet Has A Rivalry With Her Dimensions Version Of Rusty Pete
Partway Through the game, players are introduced to Pierre Le Fer, Rivet's Dimensional version of Rusty Pete, who first appeared in Ratchet & Clank: Tools of Destruction. Rusty Pete/Pierre Le Fer is a minor antagonist in both games but eventually ends up helping the heroes at some point.
Pierre Le Fer shares some history with Rivet as, through the first interaction, they talk as if they have battled each other once before. It also implies that Pierre Le Fer has aided Rivet before, and maybe he has a crush on Rivet, but that is somewhat unclear.
2 Rivet Has Been Incarcerated Before
There always has to be a prison in a fictional tyrannical dictatorship that keeps detractors or revolutionaries in check by locking them away. So Emperor Nefarious has a prison called Zordoom Prison, a prison on a stormy water planet that floats above the stormy sea.
When Rivet firsts arrive on this Planet, she states that it has "Been a while." she goes on to talk about all of the details of how this prison is all coming back to her. This makes an important detail as it seems she was incarcerated for some time. That weighs on her and helps flesh out her character more and more.
1 Rivet Is The Only Known Lombax In Her Dimension As Well
When Rivet first sees Ratchet after looking through Clank's memory files, she is awestruck and wide-eyed as she states, "A Lombax." As she is trying to wrap her head around the concept of a Dimensional counterpart, the scenes inform us that she is the only Lombax in her Dimension.
This ongoing mystery of the Lombax's disappearance is continued as the players get more info on the Lombax's dimensional traveling. Thus Rivet and Ratchet still have an opportunity to find the missing Lombaxes in the future.
