Sylvester Stallone has completed filming his return as iconic 80s action hero John Rambo for next year's Rambo V: Last Blood as announced by the veteran actor in a post on his Instagram account.

In a video, Stallone revealed that he wrapped filming for the upcoming sequel before sharing an anecdote on how he first became involved in the franchise nearly 40 years ago.

"That was my final shot in Rambo V: Last Blood, at least that's what they're calling it," shared Stallone. "It's been an amazing journey, it really has. This character was presented to me in 1980 and no one wanted to do it. As a matter of fact, I was the eleventh choice. People looked at this as sort of almost a cursed project. I looked at that and said, 'This is an amazing opportunity.'"

The announcement comes one week after the actor indicated he was done with his other iconic film role, the Philadelphia boxer Rocky Balboa.
