Sylvester Stallone has shared a new trailer for the upcoming Rambo: Last Blood.
The footage begins with clips from past Rambo installments intercut with the modern-day version of the eponymous hero. "I finally came home to defend the only family I've ever known," he says before leaving his ranch and embarking on a deadly mission south of the border after his friend's daughter is kidnapped by criminal cartels.
Last Blood was expected to be Stallone's final appearance as John Rambo, after previously starring in 1982's First Blood, 1985's Rambo: First Blood Part II, 1988's Rambo III and 2008's Rambo as the Vietnam War veteran. However, in June, the actor seemingly had a change of heart, saying, "If it works, I'll just keep going, you know, because I enjoy it so much."
As with the previous installments, Stallone co-wrote the film's screenplay, which is set after Rambo retired to his family ranch in Arizona in the 2008 film.
Directed by Adrian Grunberg (Get the Gringo) from a script written by Sylvester Stallone and Matt Cirulnick (Absentia), Rambo: Last Blood stars Stallone, Paz Vega, Sergio Peris-Mencheta and Yvette Monreal. The film hits theaters September 20.
