Fox has debuted the first trailer for its upcoming series Backstrom, which brings The Office's Rainn Wilson back to television.
He stars as Detective Backstrom, a man described in the clip with a wide range of adjectives, including despicable, genius, alcoholic, brilliant and lazy, thus proving that Wilson stretching his acting muscles after playing the ridiculously uptight Dwight Schrute on the NBC sitcom.
The new comedy comes from Bones creator Hart Hanson, which explains the show's spot-on satirical take on the incredibly popular crime-procedural-with-a-quirky-lead concept. A voiceover from series regular Dennis Haysbert (24) reveals that Backstrom catches bad guys by "putting himself in their head" -- which is a strategy that's left comedically vague by the end of the trailer.
Debuting in 2015, Backstrom also stars Genevieve Angelson, Page Kennedy, Kristoffer Polaha, Beatrice Rosen, Thomas Dekker and Sarah Chalke.
