Rachel Weisz To Join Disney's Oz: The Great And Powerful

Academy Award winner Rachel Weisz is in talks to star opposite Franco and Mila Kunis in Disney's Oz: The Great and Powerful, the Sam Raimi-directed prequel to The Wizard of Oz.

Written by David Lindsay-Abaire (Rabbit Hole, Inkheart), the movie stars Franco as a snake-oil salesman who's carried by hot-air balloon to a magical land run by witches.

According to Heat Vision, Weisz would play Evanorah, the wicked witch destined to have a house dropped on her by the tornado that transports Dorothy to Oz. Determined to rule the realm, Evanorah attempts to seduce her younger sister Theodorah (Kunis) to the dark side.

Weisz, who won an Oscar for her performance in the 2005 drama The Constant Gardener, is no stranger to fantasy-adventure films, having appeared in The Mummy, The Mummy Returns and Constantine.
