In the world of comic books, cancelations are as frequent and assured as changes in the seasons. Earlier in April of this year, Marvel Comics announced their plans to pull the plug on comics like Deadpool, X-Force, The Unstoppable Wasp, and The Uncanny X-Men."It all ends here" has even become something of a slogan to describe the abrupt conclusion of so many stories.

However, plenty of talented men and women work at Marvel Comics. Despite The Uncanny X-Men's impending ending, the creative team behind the comic will undoubtedly try to wrap things up in a satisfying fashion. We only hope that these 10 questions get answered before the Jonathan Hickman-led series ends.

10 Is Cyttorak Really Gone?

Cyttorak

The Marvel Universe is full of cosmic beings that are vying for control of Earth. Dormammu, The Phoenix Force, The Beyonder, The Celestials, and Cyttorak are some of the most infamous entities seeking to dominate the galaxy!

As you might expect from a being older than the dirt under your heels, these cosmic entities are nearly unbeatable! For decades, the combined might of the X-Men, Fantastic Four, Avengers, and SHIELD have all paled in comparison to the Crimson God's power. But in Uncanny X-Men #21, Magik tore the Crimson Gem of Cyttorak out of Cain Marko's chest and crushed it! Will Cyttorak ever regain his foothold on Earth now that his most precious artifact is no more? Only time will tell.

9 What Will Happen To The Juggernaut?

Another question regarding Cyttorak involves the host of his power - Cain Marko, aka the Juggernaut. Through Marko, the Crimson God's raised Hell for Earth's Mightiest Heroes over the years. The Juggernaut's trounced heavy hitters like the Incredible Hulk and Spider-Man with ease - establishing himself as a high-level threat to any who oppose him.

All that's going to change now that Magik's destroyed Marko's power source. Without the Gem, Marko shrank down to the size of a normal man - unable to properly fit his Juggernaut costume or perform any feats of superhuman strength! What kind of man will Marko become now that he's no longer the Juggernaut? And how will he cope with his depowered status?

8 Is Havok Going To Stay A Hero?

Havok X-Men Legacy

Cyclop's brother Alex Summers (aka Havok,) has been a hero, a villain, and everything in between throughout his career. Havok hated Scott Summers' guts initially, trying to seriously harm his sibling whenever he got the chance. Alex acted as a terrorist for a time when he founded The Brotherhood (though we eventually learn this was an elaborate ruse.)

In the recent Uncanny X-Men comics, however, Alex and Scott have made amends and are both fighting to help preserve mutantkind. We don't know what's going to happen to the main X-Men lineup when Hickman's run comes to an end. Hopefully, Havok stays with the X-Men or at least remains on the side of good for the foreseeable future.

7 Are The Effects Of Emma's Mindwipe Permanent?

An image of Emma Frost using her abilities in Marvel Comics

Though she's yet to receive a proper live-action adaptation that does her justice, Marvel Comics fans know Emma Frost as a mean girl with insane psychic power. Occasionally, Frost seemingly changes her ways and helps out the X-Men. In the long run, however, Emma usually acts in her own self-interest - intent on saving mutantkind on her terms.

Circling back to Uncanny X-Men #21, Emma Frost used her psychic abilities to make the world forget about mutants entirely! She also revealed that she subtly influenced the actions of the X-Men via psychic suggestions. Will the world ever recover from the effects of Emma's mental retcon. Moreover, can we take her word that she didn't further manipulate the X-Men's minds? Hopefully, we'll find out by the end of Hickman's run.

6 Will Nate Grey Help The X-Men (Or Harm Them?)

Nate Grey appearing to the X-Men during the Age of X-Man event

Nathaniel Grey is one of the most powerful mutants in the Marvel Comics Universe; he's considered to be an Alpha-Level Psychic, an Omega-Level Mutant, and an Omega-Level Threat rolled into one being! Essentially an alternate version of Cable, Nate Grey's psychic power is second to none in his reality or anywhere else.

Cyclops and his small group of mutants are currently trapped in Earth-295, Nate's homeworld and the realm in which the 'Age of Apocalypse' took place. Perhaps the X-Man will run into his alternate reality father. Whether or not this meeting happens, and whether or not Nathan will be helpful or hostile, is entirely unknown at the moment.

5 How Will House Of X Impact The Story?

Later this year, Marvel Comics will relaunch its old House of X storyline - and Johnathan Hickman will helm that project as well. Sure, the tagline for The Uncanny X-Men is "it all ends here,' but nothing ever ends in the world of comic books. We're wondering what Hickman plans to do during his transition from one X-Men storyline to another.

Will he somehow have Cyclops' team mix in with the House of X team? Or perhaps everyone will be reincarnated into their House of X versions by the end of Hickman's Uncanny X-Men series. We imagine that Hickman and Marvel will aim to keep their continuity from getting too crazy, so the question is how.

4 What About the Powers Of X?

Johnathan Hickman will also lead development on Marvel's Powers of X relaunch - a series that we already know prominently features Professor X. From what little info is available, we've also managed to glean that Powers of X will center around the X-Men's secret past - depicting the heroes we know and love in a new light.

Again, we can't help but wonder if Hickman will tie The Uncanny X-Men to Powers of X? If Powers takes place in the past, perhaps Cyclops' team of mutants can escape their current predicament via time travel. Moreover, Professor X seemingly isn't disabled in Powers of X. Will the ending of The Uncanny X-Men change that somehow?

3 Will Any Other Old Villains Return?

Dark Beast

So we've already seen the evil version of Hank McCoy (aka Dark Beast,) and Joseph (the evil Magneto Clone) return. We've also seen both of these mentally unhinged villains die gruesomely. However, these guys aren't even the worst members of the X-Men's old rogue's gallery.

We're wondering if more classic villains will show up before The Uncanny X-Men concludes. What if Hickman resurrects a foe like Onslaught - pitting Cyclops and his band of desperate X-Men against the psychic monstrosity? Moreover, Earth-295 Apocalypse could make a comeback and give Cyclops' team the fight of their lives! Random could even reappear just for old times' sake.

2 Who Else Will Die By Uncanny X-Men's End?

Uncanny X-Men death header

Loss seems to be one of Hickman's overall themes for his Uncanny X-Men run. Stretching back to the War of The Realms storyline, we've seen Sunspot heroically sacrifice himself to save his team. Since then, mutants have either died or found themselves imprisoned by anti-mutant groups like O.N.E. All of this has further stressed out the surviving X-Men, making their situation seem all the more hopeless.

Quite frankly, we don't imagine that Hickman's run is going to end without more tragic losses of life. Perhaps the depowered Cain Marko will go out in a blaze of glory - preferring death as opposed to life without his Juggernaut powers. Or maybe an unlikely character will follow in Sunspot's footsteps and sacrifice themselves for the good of the team?

1 How Will The Team Return Home (If That's Even Possible?)

The mutants that are stuck in an alternate reality have fought an uphill battle since day one. They've also had plenty of time to reflect on their past deeds and misdeeds. In many ways, their experiences mirror Dante Alighieri's during the Divine Comedy; Earth-295 is a Hellish place that forces the team to account for their pasts.

Thanks to Emma's mindwipe, the X-Men are sandwiched somewhere in between paradise and perdition - a sort of metaphorical Purgatory. We're wondering if the X-Men will make it through this nightmare and find their way home, or if they'll remain trapped in Earth-295 forever? With impending relaunches on the way, maybe leaving Cyclops' X-Men in Earth-295 is Hickman's current goal for the team.
