Variety reports that 20th Century Fox’s adaptation of Greg Rucka‘s “Queen & Country” Oni Press graphic novel has found its director: Craig Vivieros. Vivieros’ resume as a director includes “Ghosted,” a drama/thriller starring John Lynch; “The Liability” starring Tim Roth; and two episodes of the BBC series “Silent Witness.”
“Queen & Country” has been in development since before 2007, and made its first big strides to seeing the light of day in September 2013, when Ellen Page signed on to play the film’s lead, Tara Chase. The original Oni Press series focused on Chase, a member of the Special Operations Section of the Secret Intelligence Service. Along with dangerous spy missions, “Queen & Country” attempts to portray the politics of espionage in a realistic manner. It has been nominated for multiple Eisner Awards, winning Best New Series in 2002.
Plot details are still sparse on the film, though Rucka has stated in previous interviews that the script has gone through several drafts. The project gaining a director is a big step for the project, which will hopefully show further signs of forward movement.
