Wendell Vaughn and Phyla-Vell have a lot in common. Both have been Quasar, both have had to learn how to use the power of the Quantum Bands without training or guidance and both have had terrible and dark fates.

In another life, they would have been great friends but they could also be matched against each other. Who was the best Quasar? Read on and discover five reasons in favor of each contestant. It's a close call, but each has their advantages...

10 Wendell: An Avenger

Wendell used to go by the codename "Marvel Boy". It's hard to imagine his family and friends having high expectations for him at that stage in his life. To the surprise of all who knew him, Marvel Boy went on to become the hero named Quasar and a member of The Avengers.

Becoming one of Earth's Mightiest Heroes while juggling a side gig as Protector Of The Universe must have required a few gallons of elbow grease. For some, Wendell's membership in the Avengers is the first and last word in the debate.

Wendell Vaughn — best Quasar of all time?

9 Phyla-Vell: A Guardian Of The Galaxy

Phyla-Vell might not be Avengers material but being on the Guardians Of The Galaxy roster is the next best thing. Some would argue that it's way cooler than being an Avenger and it's hard to deny. All the bragging rights, none of the stuffy morality.

Would Steve Rogers laugh if you stole a bag of batteries from The Sovereign? It's highly doubtful.

A guy like Drax on the other hand... well there you have a friend and teammate that will howl laughing. Granted, he might not understand why he's laughing but still, it's worth something, right?

8 Wendell: The Non-Violent Approach

Like a cosmic Buddha, instead of turning his opponents into dust on sight, Wendell always tries to contain threats non violently.

The Marvel Universe thwarts this cosmic Buddha attitude at every turn though. In Superhero comics, stories always end with a fight. It's only after Wendell has failed to neutralize a threat with non-violent measures that things get exciting. All that said, it is exactly because of his non-violent approach that Wendell  Vaughn might be the best Quasar of all time.

7 Phyla-Vell: Her Endless Love

Turning into a Dragon is a passion killer. Phyla-Vell's girlfriend thought the relationship was over when she became a mythical beast with three-foot-tall teeth.

Phyla-Vell, proving that love is all you need, refused to accept this change as a reason to call things off. Most people, given the option to bail on this particular situation would.

They might say, "No thanks and goodnight sweet Dragon lady." Not Phyla-Vell. Not only is she the best Quasar, but she's also a better person than 99% of the human population.

6 Wendell: Agent Of S.H.I.E.L.D (Super Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D)

That's right, the man they used to call Wonder Boy graduated S.H.I.E.L.D Academy with honors. It seems to be the case that no matter what he sets his mind to, Wendell achieves greatness.

After working for S.H.I.E.L.D for a while, Wendell was promoted to the Super Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D team. The only thing Wendell does struggle to accomplish is the act of killing, and as a super-hero that counts as a positive thing.

So he's an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D, Protector of the Universe, and an Avenger. Where does he find the time to sleep?

5 Phyla-Vell: The Phallanx Super-Adaptoid

During the events of Annihilation: Quasar, Phyla-Vell was hunted by the Phalanx Super-Adaptoid.

The Phalanx Super-Adaptoid is a robot that can mimic the powers of superhumans. The Phalanx Super-Adaptoid has the powers of every main Avenger, making it a terrifying threat.

Without full control or understanding of her powers, Phyla still managed to defeat the Adaptiods multiple times. Despite never making the Avengers team, Phyla-Vell proved she could beat any of them one on one.

4 Wendell: Fearless

Wendell had no idea how to use the Quantum Bands when he first wore them. Seems stupid to try using Alien tech without knowing how exactly it works. Doubly stupid when the last human to wear them disintegrated.

Assigned to guard the research into the bands, Wendell took direct action when the nefarious group AIM (Advanced Ida Mechanics) attacked. He had no idea if the Quantum Bands would kill him but he knew that if he could control the power, he could defeat AIM. Luckily for Wendell, things worked out just fine and because of his inherently peaceful nature, the bands accepted him as their wearer and he avoided disintegration.

3 Phyla-Vell: Also Fearless

Quasar

The Quantum Bands chose Phyla-Vell after they escaped the control of Annihilus but not before he corrupted them. Every time Phyla-Vell used the bands, she risked losing herself to this corruption. The corruption would drive her into a mindless rage and she almost murdered the love of her life.

Most would be tempted to throw the Quantum Bands away if using them carried the risk of losing your sanity and harming those you love. Phyla-Vell instead chose the path of the hero and walked the thin line between saving lives and losing her mind.

2 Wendell: Death Can't Stop Him

Like all things, Wendell Vaughn eventually died.

Killed by Annihilus, Wendell managed to eject his consciousness before his body was destroyed. Right after this, his friend Nova exacted revenge and destroyed Annihilus with the help of Phyla-Vell, the new bearer of the Quantum Bands.

Annihilus had corrupted the bands before he died and this corruption threatened to consume Phyla-Vell anytime she exerted too much energy. In her darkest hour, the consciousness of Wendell sought her out and held off the corruption inside the bands allowing Phyla-Velll to save herself and the Kree from the Phalanx.

Wendell Vaughn, saving lives from beyond the grave.

1 Phyla-Vell: She Never Needs To Stop

No matter how impressive Wendell Vaughn is, he still has to stop to eat.

Phyla-Vell on the other hand has this handy ability to sustain herself without food or water. She can fly faster than light too. Without a doubt, this makes her easily 100 times more efficient than Wendell could ever be. Think about how many lives were lost while Wendell was stuffing his face or getting to where he needed to be.

It's a no brainer.
