One of the biggest changes Marvel has ever made to the Punisher came recently when the Skull logo was replaced for a symbol affiliated with the Hand's monstrous god, the Beast. It's been done to disassociate Frank Castle from people who co-opted his former symbol for hateful purposes over the years, and while it does feel like an organic fit given the character's new role in the comics, it could also provide the perfect platform for his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut.

Now that Netflix characters are entering the MCU, as seen with Matt Murdock in Spider-Man: No Way Home and Kingpin in Hawkeye, it would be tempting to stick Frank into a show that's action-oriented down the line with his new symbol. However, it would be hard to tuck him in a series that can't be R-rated.

After all, his stint on Marvel TV was a slow, violent burn and a gory portrait into the violent vigilante from the books. But that doesn't need to be reflected anymore, so a two-hour movie could get the job done. Fans have gotten enough of this brooding schtick, and Frank can now be reshaped into an agent of change, similar to how he's now the war general for the Beast -- seeking to rid the world of what the Hand deems poisonous.

In a movie, this could be retooled as a Frank with a new symbol going after fascist elements in a statement on real-world politics. Seeing as cops took on his Skull in the real world, misunderstanding the message of the character, a movie with the Punisher discarding the past and the skull can focus on him tackling police brutality and militia that have misappropriated his symbol.

Frank would get to burn his murderous past and move away from the red in his ledger, while the MCU would be able to accomplish what the comics have done and evolve the character. It wouldn't need to be that bloody, fitting the Disney brand and actually drawing from the action style of Black Widow and Hawkeye. Without his old logo, Franks could also remind folks that the Punisher is about the man and not a symbol, and this new logo can paint him as a new beast hunting with a different style.

Of course, his story will still be a character study of a broken man healing, but Frank would get to reinforce why he needs to change the skull, not just for himself but for the nation. And ultimately, by sticking up against tainted powers-that-be, Frank will still get to fight for justice and be that anti-hero that fans can look at as incorruptible.
