After expanding its core cast just two weeks ago, Marvel and Netflix's The Punisher has officially kicked off production on its second season.

Actor Jon Bernthal was spotted filming scenes for The Punisher Season 2 around Bellmore in New York. In the first set photos, which were snapped by a lucky fan, Bernthal's Frank Castle sports blood and bruises all over his face.

The photos come after the series unveiled a trio of new castings including Josh Stewart (Shooter), Floriana Lima (Supergirl) and Giorgia Whigham (Scream). While not much is known regarding the second season of The Punisher, it's expected that this season will (loosely) explore Garth Ennis and Leandro Fernandez's Marvel Comics arc “The Slavers,” which ran from 2005-2006.

Available now on Netflix, The Punisher Season 1 stars Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle, Ben Barnes as Billy Russo, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Micro, Amber Rose Revah as Dinah Madani, Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Daniel Webber as Lewis Wilson, Shohreh Aghdashloo as Farah Madani and Paul Schulze as Rawlins, with Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio as Marion James. Season 2 does not yet have a release date.
