The Punisher only became available to stream a couple of days ago, but showrunner Steve Lightfoot has already named two characters from the comics he'd like to use in a second season.

"I haven't even thought about Season 2 … but one of the villains I love is Barracuda [from Garth Ennis' Punisher MAX series]," Lightfoot said in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. "I think he's great fun. I also really like O'Brien [also introduced in Ennis' Punisher MAX run]. I thought she was always really cool. Certainly those two jump out at me initially, but there are so many great characters there. It's a very fun sandbox to play in."

While Lightfoot certainly wasn't shy in using original characters created for the Netflix series (Dinah Madani, Sam Stein), it sounds like he wants to keep pulling from Frank Castle's rich comic book history. Barracuda is a classic villain from The Punisher lore -- he used to be a Marine, and in the comics he's hired to assassinate Frank, though we all know how difficult that can be. Kathryn O'Brien of Earth-200111 is a former CIA operative who teams up with Frank to take down her corrupt ex-husband.
