The Punisher is an anti-hero, someone that gets things done by any means necessary. This allows him to do things that traditional superheroes wouldn't be able to get away with. However, anyone that has read the comic books starring the Punisher will know that he's a character that can take things just that little bit too far...
Below is a list of the most insane things that the Punisher has ever done. It's a real shame that due to the cancellation of the Netflix series, we'll never get to see Frank Castle pull off any of these ridiculous kills.
10 The House Fire In The Punisher Vol. 5, #12
Anyone that has spent time with the comic series will know that Ma Gnucci has been a long term character. A truly unpleasant crime boss, the Punisher attempted to take her out by throwing her to the polar bears. Rather than being eaten alive, she survived, but had all of her limbs eaten off before she could be saved.
Unsurprisingly, she didn't let this go very easily. She goes after the titular anti-hero even without limbs, ending up literally biting at his ankles. the Punisher decides to take this opportunity to punt her back into her burning home (which Frank had just set ablaze).
9 His Fight With Wolverine In The Punisher Vol. 5, #17
Everyone knows that Wolverine cannot be taken down with any conventional methods, which is why the Punisher has to be creative. Not only does he shoot him in the face, revealing the Adamantium beneath, but he turns the gun on a more sensitive part of his anatomy as well...
This still isn't enough for the Punisher though. As Wolverine attempts to crawl away, unable to walk after what has been done to him, he is chased very slowly by a steamroller. Once most of his body has been flattened, the Punisher leaves him there to die.
8 The Shark In The Punisher MAX #36
Anyone that has come up against the Punisher will know that taunting him probably isn't for the best. However, it would seem that one criminal didn't get the memo about this! While floating in the sea, the unnamed goon decides to taunt the Punisher, reminding him that even he can't get away from the sharks that are circling them.
Just when it seems like he may be facing his end, the Punisher waits until just the right moment before throwing the goon into the mouth of an oncoming shark. He swims away as the sharks rip the body apart.
7 Using A Zoo In The Punisher Vol. 4, #4
Yes, that is the Punisher punching a bear in an attempt to rile it up. This is one of the bears that he sets on Ma Gnucci before her arms and legs are devoured. However, he actually utilizes various animals in the zoo before turning his attention on the crime boss and her son.
Anyone that has played through the Punisher video game will know that this issue provided a lot of inspiration for a single level set in a zoo. He electrifies an enemy with eels and throws another to some piranhas. It gets brutal...
6 The Nuke In Punisher Kills the Marvel Universe
Being an anti-hero, the Punisher is constantly coming up against the more traditional superheroes in the Marvel universe. They don't want him to feel that he can just do whatever he please, as they are there to keep the peace.
However, comic book writers have a habit of creating new alternate timelines and different universes all the time. In one alternate reality, the Punisher takes on the entirety of the Marvel Universe. He took out both the X-Men and their rogues gallery by having them meet on the moon for a showdown, before nuking it!
5 The Empire State Building In The Punisher Vol. 5, #1
The Punisher is many things, but nobody could accuse him of not being elaborate with his killings. One criminal has the misfortune of being dragged all of the way to the top of The Empire State Building by the anti-hero before being thrown off. There's no plot explanation for this.
This is just the sort of thing that the guy likes to do! There's a possibility that he had never been to the top of the infamous tourist spot and had decided that this was a way for him to combine his professional and personal life.
4 Using His New Powers On The Hulk In Secret Wars: Battleworld #1
Readers are used to seeing Frank Castle with no powers. He's just a simple man who can kill with impunity, backed up by one of the biggest collection of weapons ever seen in a comic book. However, in the Secret Wars storyline, the man is possessed by Doctor Strange.
This imbues him with some magic powers, which he uses to his advantage in some brutal ways. One thing we see him do is take out The Hulk with just a few words, reducing him to dust. We're glad that he usually only has the guns!
3 Using An Obese Man In The Punisher Vol. 5, #11
It's not normal to see the Punisher struggle to take out an enemy. He can usually find a way around even the strongest opponent, but sometimes that takes some quick thinking. When facing off against a criminal known as The Russian, Castle can't seem to get past the man's impossible strength. Even throwing a kitchen sink at the guy isn't enough!
However, when his morbidly obese neighbor is thrown into the mix, the Punisher sees a chance to take out The Russian once and for all. He uses the morbidly obese man to smother the criminal to death...
2 Man On Man In The Punisher MAX #5
Killing in any sort of conventional manner must get pretty boring when it's all someone does throughout their day. It's no surprise then that Castle has come up with some truly interesting ways to take out his enemy throughout his various storylines.
One of the Punisher's most inventive kills came when he smashed one man's head against another... Yes, this anti-hero has actually taken out two people at once by smashing their heads together till the two of them stop moving...
1 The Bulletproof Glass In The Punisher MAX #30
The Punisher does not take kindly to criminals, that much is clear. However, he really doesn't like criminals that choose to exploit children in some way. One of the darkest storylines from The Punisher MAX sees the man completely dismantle a child slave ring.
Throughout the arc, he disembowels and burns many people that are involved, but he saves the most brutal killing for the leader. When taking her on, he decides to smash her against some bulletproof glass repeatedly, her body slowly going limp.
