The Punisher: Jigsaw Actor Ben Barnes Comments on Cancelation

Ben Barnes, who played antagonists Billy Russo/Jigsaw throughout both seasons of Marvel's The Punisher, has offered words of gratitude to the fans of the series, as well as his fellow cast and crew members. This comes in the wake of the announcement that The Punisher, alongside Jessica Jones, has been canceled by Netflix.

"Well... that's the end of the road for [Marvel's The Punisher] on [Netflix]," Barnes said in an Instagram post. "Thanks you to everyone who tuned in for an episode or binged each season in 13 hours and for all your wonderful, supportive, funny, creative comments - I can't read them all but I see you and appreciate every one! Loved working with this cast and crew- I miss you and gutted I don't get to see what you had in store for a third season!" Additionally, Barnes' post contains several photos from behind the scenes of The Punisher.

A spinoff of Daredevil, The Punisher was the last series to be added to Netflix's Marvel lineup. The show debuted just a few months after the crossover miniseries The Defenders brought together the casts of Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist.

Now that the aforementioned series have all been canceled, it appears that the recently released Punisher Season 2 has effectively also become the penultimate Marvel Netflix season. Jessica Jones Season 3 is still set to be released later this year and will effectively close the book on this chapter of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
