Netflix has canceled The Punisher and Jessica Jones, the final Marvel TV shows remaining on the streaming service.

Jon Bernthal teased the Punisher cancellation on his Instagram account earlier this morning, posting a cryptic message suggesting his time as Punisher was coming to an end.

“Marvel’s The Punisher will not return for a third season on Netflix,” Netflix confirmed to Deadline. “Showrunner Steve Lightfoot, the terrific crew, and exceptional cast including star Jon Bernthal, delivered an acclaimed and compelling series for fans, and we are proud to showcase their work on Netflix for years to come.”

“In addition, in reviewing our Marvel programming, we have decided that the upcoming third season will also be the final season for Marvel’s Jessica Jones,” Netflix added in its statement. “We are grateful to showrunner Melissa Rosenberg, star Krysten Ritter and the entire cast and crew, for three incredible seasons of this groundbreaking series, which was recognized by the Peabody Awards among many others”.

Loeb recently said he believes any of the previously canceled Marvel Netflix shows (Daredevil, Luke Cage and Iron Fist) could return on a different streaming service like Hulu or Disney+ while discussing the end of those programs and the recently-announced final season of Legion.

“I would not be surprised if any of those things reemerged. It depends on showrunner, it depends on availability of cast, all of those things," Loeb said. "It’s not like we’re a doctor show where the show got canceled because of bad ratings.”

The Punisher Season 2 is currently airing on Netflix, with Jessica Jones Season 3 expected to arrive this summer.
