Marvel's Cosmic Ghost Rider Rides Again in a New Ongoing Series

Created by Donny Cates and Geoff Shaw, Cosmic Ghost Rider first appeared in 2017's Thanos #17. While much of Frank's origin story remains the same, the Punisher of Earth-TRN666 was killed and sent to Hell during Thanos' conquest of the universe. There, Frank made a deal with Mephisto and became the Ghost Rider. After returning to Earth, Frank then became a weakened Galactus' herald, thus turning him into the Cosmic Ghost Rider, before he then went on to serve Thanos for a time. The synopsis for Cosmic Ghost Rider #1 reads, "VENGEANCE REAWAKENED! In a far-flung corner of deep space, Frank Castle has eked out a quiet existence, his days as Cosmic Ghost Rider finally behind him. But across the universe, a vicious bounty hunter is leaving a trail of bodies in his wake and his name is…Cosmic Ghost Rider?! When Frank’s peaceful existence is shattered, he must suit up once more and face his most savage enemy yet – himself! Be there for the start of a sprawling space adventure with shocking twists and turns in the saga of Cosmic Ghost Rider!" "I’m excited to play with Marvel’s cosmic characters and write something that feels really new for me and for Frank Castle as well."

Cosmic Ghost Rider #1 also features a backup story, "Cosmic Ghost Stories," by Phillips, Jonas Scharf, Arif Prianto and Lanham. Cover art for the issue comes from Valerio Giangiordano and Morry Hollowell and variant cover art from Cory Smith, Rachelle Rosenberg, Nick Roche, Josh Burcham, Ryan Stegman, Jay David Ramos and Todd Nauck. The issue releases March 1, 2023, from Marvel.
