DC Comics on Thursday offered readers an early look at the upcoming Batman #93 and 94 variant covers by renowned artist Francesco Mattina.

The art features Harley Quinn on Batman #93 and Joker’s new sidekick Punchline on Batman #94. It comes just months before DC’s “Joker War” is set to kick off in Batman #95 on May 20.

Describing the upcoming issues, DC said:

“The final two chapters of ‘Their Dark Designs’ by James Tynion IV and Guillem March, Tomeu Morey, and Clayton Cowles will arrive in shops Apr 15 and May 6, and will feature a cutthroat confrontation between the Clown Princess of Crime and the Joker’s new Second-in-Command, who has already propelled sellouts and social media buzz! Meanwhile, Batman faces off with the Designer without Alfred (R.I.P.) or Bat-Family to lean on. In these thrilling issues putting a spotlight on the chaos in the Dark Knight’s life, he stands alone against the ascendance of his greatest adversary! ‘Joker War’ is coming, and Gotham City will never be the same!”

Tynion, who is currently penning the Batman book, has hinted at a showdown that will see the Clown Prince of Crime wield some of the Dark Knight’s own weapons.

“It’s Batman’s designers used against him,” Tynion said last month.

In April, the Joker 100-page 80th Anniversary Special will explore Punchline’s origins. She’s set to take on Nightwing afterwards.
