Psycho-Pass is one of the most well-known anime of recent years. This Japanese cyberpunk based crime anime puts heavy focus on a police force that uses a system of psychological monitoring to keep would-be and could-be criminals off the streets. It is very successful and very comparable to series such as the Blade Runner movie series.

Much like any other cyberpunk based series, the popular anime Psycho-Pass features a lot of futuristic technology that is largely inspired by real life. Some of this technology featured in the series that will be looked at with this list honestly isn't too far off from becoming a real thing but other things definitely couldn't cut it.

10 IMPOSSIBLE: PLASTINATION

One of the things that will probably never be an actual piece of technology is the plastination process. This process is used to transform specimens of biological origins into what is essentially plastic. This is done for the specific reason of preserving specimens for research and crime investigation reasons.

The reason behind this not becoming real is due to there already being something that is already real used for this same reason. Not to mention that the evil deeds that could be done with something like this would outweigh the good if it got into the wrong hands.

9 POSSIBLE: CYBERNETICS

Cybernetics is one of the most important fields of technology in the world of Psycho-Pass. This is mirrored by the fact that a few of the main characters in the series are fully and partially cybernetic. This process entails basically transforming a human into a cyborg in order to expand their lifetime. The process, however, can not be done on the brain.

The reason that this technological advancement can work so well is due to the fact that it is already very well in use right now in real life. Many humans already have received prosthetic limbs to replace lost or damaged ones, basically making them into cyborgs. As time passes, cybernetic advances will only improve, bringing us closer to the reality of Psycho-Pass.

8 IMPOSSIBLE: PSYCHO-PASS INDEX

The Psycho-Pass is, of course, one of the key features of the technological world in Psycho-PassThis pass is a reading on one's mind using a cyber scan and shows a lot of key features of the mind that create a very basic profile on the individual. It can determine if a civilian could become a dangerous criminal or not.

While there exist such things like lie detectors and even a social credit system, there is no way something this intricate could happen. There are brain wave reading machines, but none that could predict how one would end up in the future. Leave that to a human therapist instead of a cold, calculating machine.

7 POSSIBLE: HYPER-OATS

Hyper-oats is an advanced form of food that was developed in the world of Psycho-Pass. It was said to have been developed around the 2060s and quickly became the main food supply of Japan. This food crop is heavily modified and was created to defeat the need to import foods. It now makes up around 99% of the entire food supply in the country of Japan.

While it will never happen due to the way the world works, something like this could definitely be possible with enough research and manpower. It may take more than one country's research work though.

6 IMPOSSIBLE: CANDY

Candy is a jellyfish hologram that basically operates as a small flying maid. This little maid will go around its owner's home and do anything that they desire. This little flying jellyfish is cheerful and obedient and it can change its clothes as well as lift actual objects despite being a hologram.

Of course, there are drones that can carry around things and follow orders, making an artificial house servant completely feasible. However, Candy is a hologram which really doesn't seem like something that would be able to work at all in real life if the physical ability is involved.

5 POSSIBLE: COMMUFIELD

The Commufield is a portal into the world of virtual games in the series. How does one get on and play? By attaching a piece of machinery to themselves and logging into their account. Very simple. This game is basically social media where a player is tasked with keeping their popularity up. The popular players also receive profit which helps due to the players usually being unemployed.

This is very similar to the world of social media today. There are job opportunities for the most popular online figures and streamers, who turn a profit from their online appearances and entertainment. However, there's currently no need to attach heavy machinery like the one seen in the anime; just pick up your phone and go live!

4 IMPOSSIBLE: MEMORY SCOOP

The Memory Scoop is a helmet that a user can wear and use to turn their memories into visuals. The helmet scans their brain waves and in turn, basically photocopies the memory that is formed by the waves. This creates a holographic copy for anyone near the machine and the user to see.

This machine is very unrealistic. This isn't just because of how far-fetched it is, but because of the simple fact that memories are an ever-changing part of the human experience. This basically makes this machine a bit useless, as memories can be modified at almost any given second - intentionally and otherwise.

3 POSSIBLE: CLEAR PASTA

Clear Pasta is a very popular food in the Psycho-Pass world. This food was unleashed into the world in the year of 2104 and was produced by Clear Foods Manufacturing in the Togane Foods Department. It was also developed by the scientist Ei Enei and took the form of a cartridge that would relax the person that consumed it.

This food was proven to contain illegal substances which makes it a very possible real-life drug, as there are real-life substances that fully resemble the Clear Pasta and its story.

2 IMPOSSIBLE: THE DOMINATOR

The Dominator is the weapon of choice for the Japanese special forces police team, Ministry of Welfare's Public Safety Bureau. This gun is able to not only determine the identity of who holds it but able to read the psychological data of who it is pointed it.

This is where things really get impossible. A gun capable of identification could become a reality in the future, but to be able to point one at someone at any time and have it read so much about them just makes no sense. That, and the gun's devastating capabilities have yet to be replicated in real life.

1 POSSIBLE: DRONES

Drones are simply a bunch of automated robots that are controlled by the government that have built-in Psycho-Passes. While the Psycho-Pass indexes are completely impossible, these drones definitely are not.

In fact, as said earlier, there already are drones being used in real-life now. They just aren't able to read the entire psychological build of a human from a scan but generally speaking, drones are slowly but surely becoming a normalized part of everyday life - just like in the world of Psycho-Pass.
