Psych creator Steve Franks has told fans that he wants to keep the franchise going, well after the next reunion movie is released.

Replying to a tweet which asked, "You were still going to make at least 4 more, right?", Franks responded "Four more movies. You know, not counting this one. Then we figure out all the other ways to keep doing this."

Franks's tweet comes ahead of the pending release of Psych 2: Lassie Come Home, the second revival movie after the comedy-mystery series ended its eight-season run on the USA network in 2014. The first revival film, in 2017, reunited the show's cast and had Shawn and Gus move to San Francisco. This sequel has them return to Santa Barbara.

Psych stars James Roday as Shawn Spencer, a consultant who helps the Santa Barbara Police Department solve crimes by posing as a psychic. In truth, Shawn has an eidetic memory and keen observational skills. He is partnered with Burton "Gus" Guster, played by Dulé Hill. The two often get guidance from Shawn's father Henry, a retired Santa Barbara PD officer played by Corbin Bernsen.

Franks told TV Guide he hopes to make six Psych movies, after shifting the project away from a weekly series: "So I thought if I can talk into existence one [movie], maybe I can talk into existence six."

Psych 2: Lassie Comes Home stars James Roday, Dulé Hill, Timothy Omundson, Maggie Lawson, Kirsten Nelson and Corbin Bernsen. It is scheduled to premiere on NBCUniversal’s streaming service Peacock later in 2020.
