A new leak may reveal a more detailed look at the specs for the upcoming PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.

According to Eurogamer, the PlayStation 5 will feature 36 GPU clusters clocked at up to 2GHz and 448GB of memory. It is designed to operate in three different modes: 800MHz, 911MHz, and 2GHz. 2GHz is what is described at "Gen2 Mode," while the other two have been labeled "Gen1" and "Gen0." The former runs with 36 compute units, a 911MHz core clock, 218GB of memory bandwidth and 64 ROPs – the exact specifications of PlayStation 4 Pro. The latter mode cuts in half the CU and ROP counts and runs at 800MHz, which matched for the base PS4.

These specs put Sony on track to his the $399 price point for their new console.

The Xbox Series X leak was more limited in scope. It is rumored to operate on a 56-cluster Navi GPU and 560 GB of memory. This would create a major gap between the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5, with Microsoft gaining the upper hand. Furthermore, it would also close the gap between PC and consoles in terms of performance. However, with specs like these, Microsoft would have to charge $400+ (possibly $500+) on the system to make a profit.

The Xbox Series X  and the PlayStation 5 are due to be on sale during the 2020 holiday season.
