One of the biggest projects announced at PlayStation 5's "Future Of Gaming" event was Spider-Man: Miles Morales, a standalone game set after the events of Marvel's Spider-Man. Though the trailer didn't show off any official gameplay, it did offer a preview of some of the new abilities players will get to use when controlling Miles Morales. Though Peter Parker and Miles Morales do share some of the same superpowers, there are significant differences between the two heroes due to them being bitten by different genetically enhanced spiders.

Here is a breakdown of the spider-powers Miles has and how they compare to Peter Parker.

Shared Abilities

Both Miles and Peter possess superhuman strength and agility, using these attributes to quickly take down waves of enemies. They also have regenerative healing factors, which help them recover from injuries much quicker than normal people. Wall crawling is also another shared power and lets them stick to walls and other surfaces to add to their already superior agility. Both use a combination of wall crawling and web shooters, which Peter invented and Miles later inherited, to quickly traverse New York City at high speeds.

Their only shared power that is slightly different is the Spider-Sense, which is an internal warning system that allows them to detect when danger is present and act accordingly. Miles' Spider-Sense has been shown to be somewhat stronger than Peter's, as he has been able to sense when other people are in danger rather than just himself.

Miles' Unique Abilities

Miles has two distinct powers that separate him from Peter. The first is the Venom Blast, a form of bio-electrokinesis that allows him to generate electricity. Miles can use his powers to send a small bio-electric shock through his hands. This blast has varying degrees of power, but all variations can shock enemies and thus end fights quickly. As Miles gains control of this power, Venom Blast has gone through various iterations. The standard Venom Blast electrocutes opponents on contact, but the Mega Venom Blast allows Miles to release a powerful explosion of electric energy. There is also the Venom Beam, which is a more controlled burst of power, and the Venom Punch, which can infuse his punches with electricity. The Venom Blast can manifest into a form similar to the web fluid used by both Miles and Peter for their web shooting. These webs can be used for standard web slinging and shock enemies trapped within them.

Miles' other unique superpower is the Spider-Camouflage ability. When activated, Miles blends in with his surroundings, rending him invisible. This allows the hero to effectively sneak up on enemies and surprise them or avoid conflict entirely, giving him a significant tactical advantage compared to Peter.

The footage in the reveal trailer showed Miles taking full advantage of both his camouflage and Venom Blast abilities, so there is no doubt that these powers will play a major role in the game. Since the rest of Miles' abilities are so similar to Peter's, it is most likely that the highly acclaimed combat system used in the original game will not undergo any major changes but rather be enhanced to take full advantage of Miles' unique attributes.
