The Spider-Man from Insomniac Games' upcoming PS4 action-adventure outing is making its canonical comics debut in the upcoming Spider-Man-centric event series, Spidergeddon. Spidergeddon writer Christos Gage, who also wrote the PS4 Spidey game, will introduce the alternate-universe wall-crawler in Spidergeddon #0, drawn by Clayton Crain (X-Force).

“Since I have been writing for the video game for the past three years (along with the ever-amazing Dan Slott, Jon Paquette, and Ben Arfmann), it seemed like a perfect time to bring that Pete into the mix,” Gage told Polygon in a written statement. ”There are other reasons based in character that make some of the interactions between him and other Spider-folks really juicy and interesting, but I can’t say too much without spoiling the game. It’s great story fodder though — this is definitely not shoehorning a character in where he doesn’t belong. In fact, it seems like an important next step for him.”

The presence of the PS4 Spider-Man was initially teased via a silhouette in the Spidergeddon teaser released by Marvel last week.

“We’ll try to avoid huge spoilers for anyone who may read the comic before finishing the game,” Gage said, while confirming that Spidergeddon takes place after the events of the PS4 Spider-Man, adding “that will inform where Pete’s head is during the event.”

Poised to serve as a follow-up to the successful Spider-Verse event, Spidergeddonthough still shrouded in mystery — is expected to bring together various spider-powered heroes from various runs on the friendly-neighbourhood wall-crawler.

The event kicks off with Edge of Spider-Geddon #1 and #2, which had their solicits revealed a couple weeks back, confirming the presence of more fringe Spider-Men and Women like SP//dr and Spider-Punk.
