Each and every month, PlayStation Plus subscribers get access to several new games that are theirs to keep for as long as they're signed up for the service, which retails for $59.99 per year. April saw Sony giving subscribers three games: Oddworld: Soulstorm, Days Gone and Zombie Army 4: Dead War. In May, gamers will get three more: Battlefield V, Wreckfest: Drive Hard. Die Last. and Stranded Deep.

Here's what you need to know about Battlefield V, Wreckfest: Drive Hard. Die Last. and Stranded Deep.

Battlefield V

Developed by EA DICEBattlefield V is a first-person shooter that first released in 2018. Set during World War II, players take on the roles of various soldiers and fighters. There's also an extensive multiplayer component to Battlefield V, as has become standard for first-person shooters.

The PlayStation 4 version of Battlefield V holds a 73 on Metacritic. While reviewers generally praised the game as a fun shooter, Battlefield V received criticism for its numerous bugs and a general sense of being unfinished.

Wreckfest: Drive Hard. Die Last.

Developed by Bugbear Entertainment, Wreckfest first released in 2019. The racing game features numerous types of race and features a physics engine that allows for players to damage both their cars and those of others. This, of course, means there's a demolition derby mode that will help gamers maximize vehicular destruction. While Wreckfest did release on PlayStation 4, PS Plus subscribers will only be able to get the PlayStation 5 version.

The PlayStation 5 version of Wreckfest does not have any reviews at this time, as the game has not yet released. The PlayStation 4 version, however, holds an 82 on Metacritic. While a lot of reviewers praised the game as being a fun experience, critiques noted that Wreckfest was occasionally hollow and repetitive.

Stranded Deep

Developed by Beam Team Games, Stranded Deep first released in 2015, only making its way to consoles in 2020. In the game, players survive a plane crash and are forced to survive on an island in the Pacific Ocean. Throughout Stranded Deep, gamers will face such dangers as sharks and other animals.

The PlayStation 4 version of Stranded Deep holds a 64 on Metacritic, though it has very few actual ratings. Although elements of the gameplay and the general experience received some praise, reviewers critiqued Stranded Deep as just being a clumsy game without the depth of a lot of other survival experiences.

How Did PS Plus Subscribers Make Out in May?

While May is pretty varied in terms of genre, Wreckfest is the best of the three games by a pretty wide margin. However, as Wreckfest is only available to PlayStation 5 owners, those who haven't yet upgraded to the hard-to-find console could find May to be one of the more disappointing months in a long time.

Oddworld: Soulstorm, Days Gone and Zombie Army 4: Dead War are available until May 3. Battlefield V, Wreckfest: Drive Hard. Die Last. and Stranded Deep will be available from May 4 until May 31.
