Posuka Demizu, the artist behind the critically acclaimed The Promised Neverland, has created a new illustration based on the new Dune movie adaptation.

As reported by Comics Natalie, Demizu was commissioned to create the piece to promote the upcoming release of the new film in Japan. The art work features stylized versions of Dune's primary characters, including its central figure Paul Atreides, who will be portrayed by Timothée Chalamet; his father Duke Leo Atreides, played by Oscar Isaac; the Fremen fighter Chani Kynes, who will be played by Zendaya in the film; and the villainous Baron Harkonnen, who is portrayed by Stellan Skarsgard in the new movie. The new adaptation of Frank Herbert's sci-fi epic premiered at the Venice International Film Festival on Sept. 3, and will be released to theaters in Japan on Oct. 15.

Dune's director, Denis Villeneuve, praised Demizu's artwork, saying, "It's very meaningful to me that other artists can draw inspiration from my work and incorporate it into their own. I consider it a beautiful gift... I think it's very beautiful and very poetic." Villeneuve previously worked on acclaimed movies such as 2013's Prisoners, the original Sicario and the critically lauded Blade Runner 2049.

The outspoken French Canadian director recently courted criticism from Marvel fans and even other famous movie directors when he criticized the MCU movies for being, in his words, "nothing more than a cut and paste of others." Villeneuve has also publicly complained about the Dune movie's simultaneous release on HBO Max, saying "Frankly, to watch Dune on a television, the best way I can compare it is to drive a speedboat in your bathtub. For me, it’s ridiculous. It’s a movie that’s made as a tribute for the big-screen experience."

Posuka Demizu, meanwhile, is working on the newly announced Cool Shock B.T. sequel manga, which the artist is working on with Monogatari writer NISIOISIN. Cool Shock B.T. was originally created by Jojo's Bizarre Adventure author Hirohiko Araki, and was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump in 1983. NISIOISIN and Demizu's new sequel manga will be set 60 years after the events of Araki's original series.

This past summer, Demizu reunited with The Promised Neverland writer Kaiu Shirai for a new one-shot manga story, DC3. The new work was released to coincide with the 5th anniversary of the release of the duo's most famous work, The Promised Neverland.  Demizu and Shirai's acclaimed manga series tells the story of a group of small children who live seemingly normal lives at a rural orphanage, but their world is turned upside down once they realize that the orphanage and the entire world around them are not what they seem. The Promised Neverland was an unexpected hit for Weekly Shonen Jump, with over 32 million copies in circulation.

Dune will premiere in theaters and on HBO Max on Oct. 22.
