Ahead of the film's release this weekend, Annapurna Pictures has given the final trailer for Professor Marston and the Wonder Women a comic book makeover. The latest trailer appears to be an abridged version of the first trailer and focuses on the relationship between Professor Marston and the women in his life who led to the creation of Wonder Woman.
Professor Marston and the Wonder Women focuses on psychologist Dr. William Moulton Marston (Luke Evans), who created Wonder Woman in 1941 under the pen name Charles Moulton. Olive Byrne (Bella Heathcote), who was a part of a polyamorous relationship with Marston and his wife Elizabeth (Rebecca Hall), served as the inspiration for the character.
The film comes on the heels of Warner Bros.' Wonder Woman, which has proven to be the first major DC Comics Extended Universe success, in that it has seen praise from critics and audiences alike. The movie has enjoyed a healthy box office, having earned an impressive $821 million worldwide. Wonder Woman stars Gal Gadot as the eponymous hero who departs the mythical island of Themyscira to seek justice in the war-torn world of mankind.
Debuting in theaters on October 13, Professor Marston & the Wonder Women is a production of Stage 6 Films directed by Angela Robinson and starring Luke Evans, Rebecca Hall, Bella Heathcote, J.J. Field, Oliver Platt and Connie Britton. The film was written and directed by Angela Robinson (The L Word, True Blood).
