A McDonald's calendar has revealed what Princess Peach will look like in The Super Mario Bros. Movie.

Not long after an Australian McDonald's employee leaked promotional tie-in material for Nintendo and Illumination's adaptation, which included a first look at Mario's design in Super Mario Bros., another leak from the promo has surfaced. In addition to the titular plumber, the McDonald's calendar included visuals of both Princess Peach and Toad. As seen in the image, Peach closely resembles her appearance in the video games, save for her more lifelike facial features. The sneak peek depicts the detail put into both Peach and Mario's attire, down to the stitches of the plumber's clothes.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie Finally Gets a Trailer

The leaked photo came a day before Nintendo released a dedicated Direct to celebrate the upcoming film. On Oct. 6, Nintendo finally released a long-awaited trailer at New York Comic Con. The panel opened with Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto thanking Nintendo fans for their continuous support. After a few heartfelt messages, the trailer for Super Mario Bros. began, marking the first time viewers heard Chris Pratt voicing Mario. Viewers also heard Jack Black as Bowser, while the Koopa King fended off snowballs from the penguins in Mario 64. Princess Peach does not appear in the clip.

Additionally, the production team behind Super Mario Bros. offered several film updates. "Next week we complete animation," said Chris Meledandri, CEO of Illumination Entertainment. "We're knee-deep into lighting and compositing. Composer Brian Tyler heads to the scoring stage in just 11 days. He's been working hand-in-hand with [Mario series composer] Koji Kondo to integrate classic themes in the film score."

The cast of Super Mario Bros. consists of several dominant names in the film industry. Aside from Black and Pratt, Anya Taylor-Joy voices Princess Peach, Charlie Day is Luigi and Keegan Michael-Key plays Toad. Other supporting cast members include Seth Rogen as Donkey Kong and Fred Armisen as Cranky Kong. Charles Martinet, who voices Mario in the video games, will also make a special cameo in the film.

Announced in 2017, Illumination and Nintendo began production of Super Mario Bros. in 2020. The upcoming film will be the third movie adaptation of the popular Nintendo franchise, following the 1986 anime Super Mario Bros.: The Great Mission to Rescue Princess Peach! and the 1993 live-action adaptation Super Mario Bros. The latter proved disastrous at the box office but has since gained a cult following.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie opens in theaters on April 7, 2023.
