With director David O. Russell and star Natalie Portman no longer involved in adapting Seth Grahame-Smith's post-apocalyptic revamp of the classic Jane Austen tale, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies seemed all but buried -- but like the horrific monstrosities teased in the title, the project is apparently back from the dead.
Deadline reports that Scarlett Johansson is the current frontrunner to replace Portman in Zombies. For the director's job, Lionsgate reportedly considers Prince of Persia director Mike Newell as "the early front runner," with Eclipse director David Slade and Descent filmmaker Neil Marshall also in the mix.
In further casting speculation, Bloody Disgusting says that offers have been made to Bradley Cooper and Mia Wasikowska to star in the bloodied-up period piece. Oscar winner Tilda Swinton is reportedly up for a role as well.
