The following contains spoilers for Prey, now streaming on Hulu.

In Hulu's Prey, Naru (Amber Midthunder) got pushed to the limit defending her Comanche people in the Great Plains in 1719 from a Predator. The Yautja hunter came seeking trophies, but it underestimated the young woman's talents. Naru was sparked by the creature killing her brother, which led to a brutal finale in which she tricked it into blowing its own head apart. However, while the film ended on a celebratory note with Naru becoming war chief, a couple of key threads were set up to tease a sequel.

Prey 2 Could Focus on Naru's Tribe in a Rematch

Prey

Prey's credits used ancient rock art to depict the movie's events, but there was one deep cut that illustrated the aftermath. It showed more Yautja ships appearing, causing Naru's tribe to go into a state of panic. Now, while it's not in Yautja code to show up and ambush people after a fair game, it's a subtle way of hinting the aliens could return for their comrade's body and a new challenge.

Naru did tell her people they needed to move to safer territory. That foreshadows a rematch, which would find the Comanche nation years later setting traps, training dogs and other animals and strengthening their army. Naru also knows about the orange flower that lowers their body temperature, making them invisible to the infrared of the Predators, so that's another advantage.

Prey 2 Can Bring in Other Predator Timelines

Movies Prey Predator Naru Hunting

Naru and the Predator navigating this chapter was so impressive that it might call for different arenas and timelines. There's always the possibility the series retcons this being the first visit, with the Yautja having dropped aliens off in earlier eras. That means something like the Roman Empire is fair game. Medieval times with knights or the samurai era are also available, potentially showcasing how the Predator reacts to different cultures and landscapes.

Dark Horse Comics even had the Predator hunting soldiers in the Middle East during wars, which would flip the jungle dynamic to deserts. There's also the chance a futuristic story akin to Tron can be mapped out, with the Yautja coming to Earth way down the line to meet humanity that'd have bombastic weapons. That would reignite the rivalry and scratch the itch of folks who liked the idea at the end of Shane Black's The Predator, where humanity got a suit that turned soldiers into a mix of Predator and Iron Man. But wherever the next entry lands, it will need to push the ingenuity of the creative team to shape both parties as hunters.
