The newest poster for Prey warns viewers that there’s something out there.

The Predator is seen standing ready in the new poster for the upcoming 20th Century Studios film, which will release exclusively on Hulu. Prey takes place three centuries ago in the Comanche Nation and will tell the story of Naru, a novice warrior from the legendary tribe of Great Plains hunters. Despite her community's lack of faith in her abilities, Naru develops into a fierce combatant as her people face an unseen threat of alien origin. Setting out to defend her family and home, Naru's hunt leads to her discovering that her adversary is a technologically-advanced hunter from another world.

Prey is the fifth entry in the Predator franchise and serves as a historical prequel to the earlier installments. The first film, 1987's Predator, starred Arnold Schwarzenegger and followed a group of elite mercenaries being stalked by the titular alien hunter in a Central American jungle. The 1987 film was followed by 1990's Predator 2, 2010's Predators and 2018's The Predator, each featuring a new cast of characters going up against the titular slayer. The franchise also crossed over with the Alien series for two Alien vs. Predator films in 2004 and 2007.

Prey Introduces a New Type of Predator

Director Dan Trachtenberg has opened up about how Prey's Predator will be different from past versions of the character. "I wanted it to be scarier than we've seen it before," the director explained. "It's intelligent and it has advanced technology, and that makes it even more difficult to take on. But because the movie is set 300 years in the past, those things need to feel a little bit older than we've seen before, but also still far more advanced than what we think our earthlings would be able to handle. I wanted to make sure the head was more proportional to the body. This predator is much slimmer and less armored than it's ever been. It’s more 'creature'[, but it's] still hulking and ferocious."
