In Hulu's Prey, Amber Midthunder's ever-resourceful Naru had to battle a Predator hunting her Comanche brethren in 1719. The Yautja warrior was looking for a challenge, which resulted in it taking out wildlife and invaders in the Great Northern Plains. With that in mind, let's break down and rank the gory kills as the Predator targeted unwitting entities.
8. Itsee Got Maimed in the Bushes in Prey
When the Yautja revealed itself to Naru, her fellow trackers and some Comanche hunters, she evaded the first wave of attack. Luckily, she met Itsee in the tall grass, and he was ready to fire his bow and arrow at the creature. The alien aimed its laser marks at him, but thankfully, Naru pulled him out of harm's way. However, as they fled, the Predator showed its ferocity and speed. It chased after Itsee and chopped him up in the bushes, which led to a sea of blood exploding. Sadly, Naru couldn't look back or try to help as she had to escape certain death.
7. The Wolf Got Scalped in Prey
Now, this act of murder wasn't one for folks who hate seeing animals butchered on-screen. In the first act, the Predator found a wolf hunting a rabbit at top speed and engaged it after analyzing it and deeming it a worthy bit of game. It used its camouflage mode and skewered the wolf before beheading it. This bit of animal cruelty was topped off by the Predator using a spray to flay off its fur and skin, allowing it to attach the skull to its waist.
6. The Bear Was Gutted in Prey
Another horrific animal kill came when the Yautja snuck up on a bear that tried to kill Naru near a dam. Loving the continued sport, it used its blades, sliced open the grizzly's stomach and held it overhead. The sight of all the blood pouring down the alien into the river was quite scary, proving to Naru there was an apex killer on the loose. Seeing the bear succumb to something that nature didn't plan was hard, punctuating how much the order of things was now upset.
5. Wasape's Crew Got Dismembered in Prey
Wasape and his arrogant friends constantly berated Naru in the movie about how girls should stay at camp, cooking and cleaning. They didn't even care that she was a great fighter and helpful in the field. Well, when the crew finally came across the Predator, the misogynistic guys got their comeuppance in bloody fashion. Wasape got targeted by the Predator's lasers, which resulted in three metal spikes blasting into his skull. And the alien retrieved them before dicing up the other men in a terrifying scrap. The other notable kill in the brawl came when the Predator sliced off a Comanche warrior's arm, slashed his chest and cut his head off in one fell swoop to indicate he meant business.
4. The Fur Trappers Were Diced Up in Prey
The film had some French fur trappers who captured Naru, using her as bait for the alien. However, that didn't go to plan, with the Yautja using the fog to its advantage. It bludgeoned, sliced and maimed so many of them in a brutal sequence, sending the message to the others that even if they ran, it'd catch them. But the most notable kill came when it jacked its forearm into one of the soldiers, opening the shield from its gauntlet. That was a rare show of the alien using its advanced tech, which immediately sliced off the guy's head, compounding how innovative the Yautja was in battle. In addition, when the alien got the leader that Naru captured and used as bait, the Predator used its metallic claws to skewer him in another dark act.
3. Raphael Adolini Got Skewered in Prey
Naru also cut up quite a few Frenchmen as she tried to grab her rope-ax from the colony to defend herself in the melee. But as she stabbed and maimed them, the Predator came hunting again. Sadly, it got to Raphael, who Naru tried to help. It stepped on his feet, which caused the wounded man to scream. The Yautja gutted him, which was heartbreaking as Naru had earlier treated Raphael with the orange flower that initially hid him from the Yautja's sights.
2. Taabe Met a Grisly End in Prey
At the colony, Naru's brother Taabe intervened, battering the Predator in a brutal fashion. However, he realized he had to sacrifice himself to save her. He wanted to buy time by staying to fight the creature, but it snuck up on him using its invisibility mode. It viciously stabbed him from the back and lifted him as he bled out in front of Naru. It was a tragic moment because he had just told her he believed in her warrior spirit and that she'd overcome this new threat. And when word got back to the tribe, seeing them all, especially his mom, mourn made the scene resonate even more.
1. Naru Busted the Predator Open in Prey
Taabe's soul-crushing death motivated Naru, especially because she knew what the orange flower could do. She cloaked herself after ingesting it and tricked the Yautja into getting stuck in a mud pit. Naru goaded it to fire its spikes at her, but she already rigged its dislodged helmet to aim at its own head. Thus, the projectiles pieced the Yautja's skull, allowing Naru to chop its head off and return home as a war chief who achieved vengeance for her people.
