From the original Predator movie to Alien vs. Predator and all the reboots that have come after, the franchise now sits with seven films under its belt. Despite the movies' rocky receptions over the years, the most recent, Prey, has managed to stand apart from the others, breaking new ground in more ways than one. Not only has it become Hulu's most-watched premiere, but it's also the first movie to offer a complete Native American dub in the Comanche language. And so, here's how audiences can watch it.

What Is Prey About?

In an image from Prey, Amber Midthunder's Naru wanders through the woods at night.

Set as a prequel to 1987's Predator, Prey takes things to the Great Plains of America in the year 1719. Naru, a young woman in the Comanche tribe, has trained to become a healer, as was expected of women in that day and age. However, to the disapproval of her people, Naru dreams of becoming a hunter like her brother, Taabe. After a cougar attacks one of the tribe members, Naru is allowed to tag along with the search party, promising Taabe to act as a healer if the man is found alive. But things are far from what they seem, as the tracks they follow are those of the Predator.

Without spoiling the rest of the movie, Prey goes on to hit all the points expected of a Predator prequel. The Great Plains make a gorgeous backdrop for the Predator's hunt, as the Native American people are picked off one by one in the most gruesome ways imaginable. And amongst all the chaos, Naru must watch and learn to become the great hunter she always hoped to become.

How to Stream Prey's Comanche Dub on Hulu & Disney+

Despite the cast being full of Native Americans, the majority of the movie was filmed in spoken English to appeal to general audiences. Yet, to pay tribute to the Comanche tribe, the entire movie has been dubbed in their language, along with full Comanche subtitles. And given the characters and setting, it's arguable that this is the best way to watch the movie, as it fully immerses viewers into the setting.

As for how to view the dub, the option doesn't come under the movies' audio settings, as is usually expected. For Hulu owners, they must select the Comanche dub under the "Movie" tab on the app, which is a separate stream from the film's standard version. And as for Disney+ owners, Prey must first be selected, and then under the "Extras" tab will be the Comanche dub, again uploaded as a separate movie from the English edition.

Prey has received critical acclaim, with many reviews announcing it to be the best Predator movie since the original. And while the movie wasn't filmed in the Comanche language, it should be commended for including the dub, as it brings a level of authenticity to the movie while also making it accessible to a demographic that's often forgotten in Hollywood.
