Until recently, it was common knowledge that the Venom symbiote was the first of its kind to make Earth its home. After all, it wads brought back to our planet by Spider-Man following an adventure he had on a world far, far from ours, so it had to be the first to make its way here - right?
Wrong.
In the first issue of Marvel's new Venom series, Donny Cates and Ryan Stegman revealed that not only were there other symbiotes on Earth prior to the one that once bonded with Peter Parker, they've actually been here for quite a long time, Centuries, in fact. And while much of their history is being explored in Venom'a main title, along with the incoming Web of Venom miniseries, the story of a super-soldier program involving the symbiotes and the Vietnam War will be revealed in a special August-debuting one-shot.
