Preview: Interview with Topher Grace

Wizard Magazine sent CBR a preview of a new interview with actor Topher Grace about playing Eddie Brock in the web-spinning sequel:

TOPHER COMMENTING ON BEING PERCEIVED AS SIMILAR TO CO-STAR TOBEY MAGUIRE

Topher: First of all, I know I'm very similar to Tobey [Maguire] because I've lost like 500 roles to him over time.

TOPHER EXPLAINING THE PROS AND CONS OF JOINING THE CAST OF SPIDER-MAN 3

Topher: What's great is that this is relatively easy for me because I was such a huge fan of the first two [movies] and because the entire team is intactÑdirectors, actors, writer. You kind of go in with a lot of trust, thinking that these people know what they're doing and they have a whole system already set up. Then it's very nerve-racking because I love the character [of Venom] so much and I really want to try something new, but also be true to what's in the comics.

TOPHER'S ANSWER TO WHAT DREW HIM TO THE PROJECT

Topher: Oh, I love the whole thing. I think I was also in love with Mary Jane [Kirsten Dunst].

ON WHAT SUPERHERO MOVIE TOPHER IS LOOKING FORWARD TO OTHER THAN "SPIDER-MAN 3"

Topher: I can't wait to see what Heath Ledger does [as the Joker in 'The Dark Knight'], man. I'm so stoked.

TOPHER COMMENTING ON BULKING UP FOR "SPIDER-MAN 3"

Topher: It was awful. I've never worked out before, and I had to put on 20 pounds, which hasn't all left me yet. I mean, I'm a skinny guy, so it didn't look like 20 pounds on some guy that's already thick, but it is noticeable.

The issue of Wizard in question will be on stands February 28th.
