Prey, Hulu's upcoming Predator prequel, is the first film to feature Comanche language options.

Per the streaming giant, "Prey will be available on Hulu entirely in Comanche as a language option, or with Comanche subtitles, which is the first time a feature-length movie on a direct-to-consumer streaming platform has been available in the Comanche language in its entirety."

Directed by Dan Trachtenberg, who has previously helmed episodes of The Boys and Black Mirror as well as 2016's 10 Cloverfield Lane, the upcoming installment in the Predator franchise is set to take place in the Great Plains in 1719. Adapted from a screenplay by Patrick Aison, Prey is the fifth entry into the series, and the seventh feature overall when including the two Alien vs. Predator crossover films.

Prey producer John Davis commented on the period setting of the film, stating that "It goes back to what made the original Predator movie [from 1987] work. It's the ingenuity of a human being who won't give up, who's able to observe and interpret, basically being able to beat a stronger, more powerful, well-armed force."

The original Predator starring Arnold Schwarzenegger debuted in 1987 to mixed critical response before becoming a staple in the realm of science-fiction horror. The franchise originally crossed over with Alien just a few years later in the pages of 1990's Dark Horse Presents #36 by Paul Guinan, Phill Norwood, and Randy Stradley.

Trachtenberg has previously revealed that the film will focus heavily on Native American warriors from the Comanche and Blackfeet tribes, putting a spotlight on real-life struggles through the lens of Predator's otherwise fantastical elements. Other entries in the franchise have taken place in jungles and populated areas including Los Angeles in 1990's Predator 2 starring Danny Glover and Gary Busey. The largely wide-open setting is just one of several shifts that Prey is bringing to the series.

20th Century Studios President Steve Asbell touched on Prey while discussing the pace of production at the studio, saying, "You can take big creative swings - which you'll see with Prey, which we'll launch this summer. A Predator movie set in the Great Plains in 1719 by Dan Trachtenberg. That's what this allows us to do."

Starring Amber Midthunder, Dane DiLiegro, Dakota Beavers and Stefany Mathias, Prey premieres on Hulu on August 5.
