Things aren't looking good for humanity in the first official image from Shane Black's upcoming Predator film.

Fresh off the teaser trailer for The Predator, Empire has revealed the first official image showcasing the titular alien in action with one poor human on the receiving end of the creature's extraterrestrial fury. The teased sequence appears to take place in a lab, with the Predator clutching a test tube of some kind in its free hand as it hoists its human victim in the other.

This image ties into the official synopsis for the film revealed that the hunters have begun upgrading themselves using the DNA from the various species they encounter on each planet. In lieu of the iconic first film's jungle setting, much of this year's update to the science fiction action franchise takes place in the American suburbs when a boy played by Jacob Tremblay accidentally causes the hunters to return to Earth. This leads to a paramilitary squad led by Boyd Holbrook being called in to take on the Predator.

If this image and the trailer are any indicator, they're gonna have their work cut out for them.
