POWERSPremium Hollywood reports the FX television show based on the Benids/Oeming comic is still a go. They've brought on a new writer to redraft their pilot. you have a great property, a really robust property, but it has to be adapted to become a weekly television series. So you're asking yourself the question, ';What stays and what goes?' For example, the Retro Girl murder story: should that whole story be told in the pilot, or do we introduce it and tell it later? But the new writer and Brian have got a good take on it. They came in about two months ago and pitched what they were doing, and it was great," says FX President and General Manager John Landgraf. Premium Hollywood notes Landgraf could not reveal the name of the writer ... but it seems every time that happens, we learn the name of these unnamed writers the next day.

Release date: TBAGREEN LANTERNWith director Martin Campbell's new film, "Edge of Darkness" coming soon, there's been plenty of opportunity to ask him about Green Lantern. First, MTV News reveals the often rumored Clark Kent cameo is out of the film. Some of the earliest news on the film suggested a brief moment in which the Ring looks at Clark Kent before choosing Hal Jordan. "No, that won't happen," says Campbell. The production is also concerned with the cheesier elements of the property. The director tells Sci Fi Wire, "Any time we talk about it, we sit in meetings, we have a cheese meter. We talk about de-cheesing any scene. So it's quite funny." I guess that means no G'nort. That does not mean the film will be grim and gritty. According to Collider, Campbell says, "It will be much more in the tone of 'Iron Man.' It's got to be. Certainly not 'Batman Begins,' which is a pretty dark movie. No, he's the Hal Jordan character who's the sort of shoot from the hip, irresponsible kind of cocky test pilot if you will. In fact, the character seems to be the least likely to be chosen as Green Lantern. Well, of course that's the fun of it."

Starring Ryan Reynolds, release date: June 17th, 2011THORVariety reports actor Clark Gregg will reprise his role of SHIELD Agent Coulson in the film. He will also appear in "Iron Man 2" Meanwhile, director Kenneth Branagh tells MTV News the first week of shooting went well. "We have many miles to go and promises to keep, but so far, so good," says the director.

Starring Chris Hemsworth, release date May 6th, 2011REDAs we reported yesterday here at CBR, filming has commenced in Toronto with Bruce Wills and a cast that rivals that of "Thor." Hell, they even got Ernest Borgnine to play a part.

Release date: November 19th, 2010THE HOBBITWith the demise of "Spider-Man 4," the Tobey Maguire-as-Bilbo-Baggins rumor has resurfaced at The Sun (via IESB). This first surfaced back in December when all hell broke lose on "Spider-Man 4" and Mysterio's mists obscured everything. Over at Ain't It Cool News, Harry Knowles asked director Guillermo del Toro and producer Peter Jakson about the rumor. "Its not true, gordito," replied the director. Jackson wrote, "No truth at all, although we're all big fans of Toby. We are currently auditioning for Bilbo, and a month or two away from any announcements." Oh, to have that kind of access to the stewards of Middle-Earth. Of course, that does not mean the matter is closed. Directors and producers occasionally use Mysterio's talent to obscure their own aims. I do find it interesting that Jackson mentions they are two months away from an announcement.

Release date: December 2011JUSTICE LEAGUE: CRISIS ON TWO EARTHSOver at Ain't It Cool News, Harry Knowles let's everyone know he's seen the film and gives it a rating relative to other DC Universe animated films.
