'Powers #23' and 'The Pro' sell out

Press Release

Image Comics has announced that Diamond has completely sold out of POWERS #23 by Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming. The third chapter in the current four-part "Anarchy" storyline, POWERS #23 arrived in stores on September 11.

"We try to keep enough copies available for reorders across the board, but this issue went really fast," said Image Director of Marketing EricStephenson. "It makes sense, though: POWERS is absolutely one of the best comics on the market right now."

Stephenson added that despite POWERS' incredible success over the past three years, Image has been actively seeking ways to get POWERS in front of new readers, both through promotional campaigns geared toward comic book stores that aren't currently ordering the series and online marketing.

Image also announced that THE PRO by Garth Ennis, Amanda Conner and Jimmy Palmiotti has also sold out, despite being overprinted by one-third. A second printing of THE PRO will be available in early October with an all-new cover by Conner, Palmiotti and colorist Paul Mounts.

"I'm overwhelmed by the response this book has received. I never realized there were so many blasted perverts out there!" said Image Vice-President and Publisher Jim Valentino. "No, seriously, I think this is one of the funniest, sharpest and best books of the year, and I couldn't be happier."

"THE PRO is doing what we'd hoped: getting people who don't normally read comics to track this down and hit the local comic shops," added THE PRO's co-creator and inker Jimmy Palmiotti. "We're glad that everyone is enjoying it, and we hope the second printing will help those who didn't get a copy."

Image will also offering a limited edition signed and numbered version of THE PRO Convention Special that was sold at this year's ComiconInternational in San Diego in the November issue of Diamond Previews.
