Created by Craig McCracken, The Powerpuff Girls debuted on Cartoon Network in 1998 and was produced by Hanna-Barbera Productions for the first four seasons and Cartoon Network Studios for the remaining two. The series centers on three superpowered, kindergarten-aged girls -- Bubbles, Blossom and Buttercup -- who live in the fictional suburb of Townsville, USA with their father, Professor Utonium, who creates them by accidentally adding "Chemical X" to a mixture intended to spawn the perfect little girls. The three pint-sized heroes use their impressive array of abilities to battle such recurring foes as  Mojo Jojo and Him.

The original run of Powerpuff Girls lasted until 2005, with a feature film released in 2002 and a CGI special in 2014. Then, in 2016, the property was rebooted by Cartoon Network, running for three seasons before concluding in 2019.
