REVIEW: With Some Comic Turbulence, "Powerless" Takes Flight

Vanessa Hudgens’ Emily Locke discovers that in the Valentine's Day-themed promo for this week's episode of "Powerless," titled "Wayne Dream Team," which reveals that Wayne Security's new director of research and development has been going out with one of The Riddler's henchmen for a couple of weeks.

With a new product idea greenlit, Emily (Vanessa Hudgens) tries to get her team inspired but can’t seem to break through their obsession with Fantasy Super Hero League. Meanwhile, Van (Alan Tudyk) is on a mission to be included in the Wayne Dream Team photo. Danny Pudi, Christina Kirk and Ron Funches also star. Jennie Pierson recurs.

Set within the DC Universe, NBC's new workplace comedy is set at the Wayne Enterprises subsidiary that specializes in products that make defenseless bystanders feel a little safer as they try not to become collateral damage in the battles between superheroes and supervillains.

"Powerless" premiered last week to soft ratings, drawing just 3.1 million viewers. However, producers have big plans for the series, including the introduction of the DC Comics hero Fire.

Airing Thursdays at 8:30 p.m. ET/PT on NBC, “Powerless” also stars Danny Pudi, Alan Tudyk, Ron Funches and Christina Kirk.
