It is possible that there are times when you wish you were a superhero. But the world of superheroes is also full of conflict, which in many instances puts the lives of some of your favorite heroes in peril. Especially if they are asked to face off against someone who, even if you are very biased, you would have to admit were more powerful. Such as Peter Parker who tried his best against Thanos, but c'mon now, he was still going up against a crazy powerful cosmic being. And anyone who saw Avengers: Infinity War knows how that exchange ended for your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. Thankfully for Spidey fans, he's still expected to be swinging around Europe with Spider-Man: Far From Home in 2019. And unlike when he went off against Thanos, something tells us he is not only going to come out on top but also grow tremendously as a person and superhero.

As it stands, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is made up of most of the Marvel films since the first Iron Man and the television series, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. But Marvel also has various X-Men films, not to mention the success of the different Netflix series where there are some seriously powerful characters. When looking at it all, you have no shortage of amazing superheroes. But these are the 24 who perhaps stand out above them all, ranked in order of how powerful they are. And even if you disagree with some of the order, you may find yourself agreeing that the most powerful Marvel superhero has yet to hit the screen!

30 HAWKEYE

Hawkeye in Avengers: Age of Ultron

Hawkeye definitely gets teased online by fans more than any other MCU hero. But to be fair, he deserves to be a name on this list, even if he is the least powerful.

That’s not to say his skill with arrows and firearms isn’t impressive, as he is considered to be the greatest marksman in the Marvel Universe, but it just pales in comparison to some of his "co-workers" who have overpowered him in the past. Though to be fair, some of his "co-workers" have had some external help, like the Super Soldier Serum!

29 BLACK WIDOW

If you needed to pick the best assassin in the MCU, then you would definitely think about the Black Widow. Despite the fact that she does not have any major superpower, she is still able to hold her own against any big villain.

She was slowed down by Thanos, but that’s hardly something to blame her for. Black Widow is also considered to be a master interrogator, something that was put on display during an interaction with Loki in The Avengers back in 2012. She just isn't as strong as some of the heaviest hitters.

28 SHURI

Shuri is one of the most powerful characters in the Black Panther universe, and this is due in part to her incredible intelligence.

Shuri has displayed her intelligence in a variety of ways, including being responsible for creating several pieces of Wakandan technology. Shuri's creation and usage of the Vibranium Gauntlets also make her a formidable competitor in combat. Shuri also helped assist other characters, such as the Winter Soldier, whom she built his arm for.

27 JESSICA JONES

Jessica Jones

The Defenders is made up of several heroes, including Jessica Jones.  Jones is a talented fighter, though unlike her fellow Defenders does not have formal training. She does possess several powers including superhuman strength and enhanced speed that has allowed her to defeat others who have had training.

Jessica Jones also has the ability to regenerate, for example, being able to recover from broken ribs in only a day. Jones also stands out from the pack due to the fact that she is a prominent investigator which she has used to her advantage in the past, such as tracking down the individuals Antoine Grier and Hope Shlottman.

26 ANT-MAN

Ant-Man in Ant-Man and the Wasp

Scott Lang is a master of being able to manipulate his size to his advantage. Whether it is shrinking down to the size of an ant or shooting up in size, becoming Giant-Man. As Giant-Man, Lang has shown extreme durability including battling off against Iron Man and War Machine.

While being shrunk down Lang still has several abilities, such as showing off superhuman strength and control over insects; most prominently ants. Scott also possesses a Master's Degree in electrical engineering which was utilized when he was escaping the Quantum Realm.

25 SPIDER-MAN

Spider-Man Homecoming

Peter Parker best described his senses as being dialed up to 11; indicating enhancements in areas such as vision and is responsible for his famed "Spider-Sense" that keeps him aware of potential dangers. Spider-Man's ability to transport through methods such as wall-crawling and web-swinging also helps increase how powerful he is.

His other abilities, such as superhuman strength has been shown in the movies such as overpowering the Winter Soldier and being able to catch the hammer of Cull Obsidian. Parker is also one of the most intelligent characters in the Marvel Universe, as displayed through his ability to create his own synthetic webbing.

24 BLACK PANTHER

Black Panther in Avengers: Infinity War

Black Panther has several qualities that are enhanced as a result of the usage of the Heart-Shaped Herb. Such as an enhanced sense of stamina, allowing him to exert extreme levels of strength and endurance without needing to stop for a break. Among Panther’s accomplishments in the field include overpowering Winter Soldier and holding his own against Captain America.

Black Panther's reflexes were also tested when he was required to catch Hawkeye's arrows, which he was successful in. Black Panther also has the ability to find weaknesses in his opponents through his experience as a strategist, such as when facing off against Killmonger.

23 DAREDEVIL

Daredevil might not be able to see, but is still more than a capable fighter and uses his other senses which have been greatly heightened to his advantage. One of the practical natures of his abilities includes being able to hear someone’s heartbeat which enables him to detect lying.

As shown through the Netflix series, Daredevil is also an accomplished fighter and has been known to incorporate several different fighting styles to make him successful against a variety of impressive foes, including Kingpin. While the other members of the Defenders are also talented, Daredevil is also considered to be the leader of the group.

22 IRON FIST

Danny Rand, better known as Iron Fist is an outstanding and experienced fighter and his ability to channel chi makes him one of the strongest Marvel characters. When Rand channels the chi of Shou-Lao, he gains superhuman strength in his fist which is also immune to pain and injury.

Rand's punches also have the ability to send off a concussive force, as shown when he punched Luke Cage and as a result also knocked back everything (including other people and himself) in the room. One of the weaknesses when it comes to Rand is that his ability to utilize his powers are dependent on his physical and mental state.

21 DEADPOOL

Deadpool

When it comes to the sassiest superheroes, nobody may stand out more than Deadpool. But if you just focus on his humor, you may discredit just how strong Deadpool is when he decides that he needs to spice up his life by ending yours. Just ask all the henchmen that he has disposed of in both movies through a variety of creative ways, such as busting out his Katana Swords.

Though his healing factor may be what Deadpool appreciates the most for when things hit the fan!

20 HIVE

Hive possesses the ability to inhabit dead bodies - including learning their memories, and in doing so, also extends his own lifespan indefinitely. Hive also seems to not have to struggle very hard when it comes to exerting his powers on others.

Hive's strength when it comes to hand-to-hand combat is also due to the fact that he has obtained the memories of many different fighters, perhaps most prominently Grant Ward. Beyond having the power, just the idea of it is enough to stop people in their tracks. After all, no one would want to fight someone who can inhabit dead bodies.

19 LUKE CAGE

One of the most important things for a superhero is their ability to take a beating because even if they're as strong as Cage, they are still going to have to take some damage. Luke Cage has survived things such as being shot, as bullets bounce off his skin, as well as being stabbed. Even a building falling on Cage was not enough to slow him down.

Cage’s physical strength is also seriously impressive including being able to break bones with a kick. Cage's incredible amount of stamina has also allowed him to accomplish several feats, such as going after multiple safe houses over the span of a few hours without showing any sign of fatigue.

18 CAPTAIN AMERICA

As a result of the Super Soldier Syrum, Steve Rogers (aka Captain America) gained several superpowers including enhanced strength, speed, stamina, accelerated healing, and advanced longevity. Rogers' is a brilliant tactician with a perfect memory that has also aided him greatly in battle. Rogers' combat experience includes overpowering Iron Man and striking Thanos with enough force to cause him to stagger.

Rogers' reflexes have also often been tested as he has excelled in dodging gunfire, as well as other projectile weapons such as Proxima Midnight's Spear. Rogers' is an expert with his shield, both using it defensively, but also offensively such as ricocheting it off several enemies. Rogers' is also an accomplished spy and considered to be one of the best marksmen in Marvel.

17 IRON MAN

Tony Stark as Iron Man

Tony Stark's intellect has made him one of the strongest superheroes due to his ability to construct many impressive Iron Man suits. Some of the technology he has created, such as F.R.I.D.A.Y. also allows him serious offensive advantages, as seen when he faced off against Captain America and could predict his movements.

Stark has many offensive powers at his disposal when in the suit, including being able to shoot beams of explosive force from his hands and chest, not to mention shoot missiles. The armor that coats the Iron Man suits also makes Stark incredibly resilient, including being able to survive a confrontation with Scarlet Witch in which he had several cars dropped on him. Most impressive of all? Stark made Thanos bleed!

16 HULK

Hulk in The Avengers

Hulk has the amazing ability to fuel his anger and rage into becoming even stronger. The extreme feats of strength include being able to stop a Leviathan by administering a punch and has also shown experience using weaponry, such as the Sakaaran Battle Axe and War Hammer.

Hulk does not fly, but his ability to leap allows him to travel great distances in a very short amount of time. Hulk is very durable, but Thor is higher than him on this list for a reason, as Thor was able to daze him when they battled off in the Contest of Champions. When not Hulk, Bruce Banner, is one of the smartest characters in the MCU and a brilliant scientist, as well as an engineer and has helped with various inventions including the Hulkbuster.

15 WOLVERINE

Wolverine in X-Men Wolverine Origins

Wolverine is not in the MCU which means he does not have to worry about taking down Thanos, but he is still one of the strongest Marvel characters and has had plenty of exposure on film. The adamantium that lines Wolverine make him one of the most indestructible characters, and when combined with the claws, helps explain why he is one of the most powerful.

Wolverine is also strong mentally, being known to resist attempts at manipulation through telepathic means. Wolverine's backstory that includes him having experience fighting in things such as wars have also made him proficient in regards to weaponry.

14 DAISY

Daisy Johnson, or Quake, is one of the leads on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and has had many moments where she has displayed her extreme amount of power. Quake has the ability to manipulate and absorb vibration and in doing so has been able to accomplish feats such as absorbing an earthquake and reduced the amount of impact.

Quake can also target adversaries with this power, including being able to blast away a Quinjet and create barriers to help defend herself. Quake can also impact the environment around her; such as destroying a floor. An amazing hacker, Daisy is also invaluable in many different types of missions.

13 GHOST RIDER

Robbie Reyes transforms into the Spirit of Vengence, Ghost Rider and can able manipulate fire in a variety of ways. All while being resistant to any of the potential damage of fire himself. In doing so, Reyes can incinerate his enemies which he did so to Frederick.

Reyes is also resistant to any type of long-term damage, stating himself that he believed he is impossible to kill. Reyes can also infuse fire into a variety of objects, including chains and pipes. Ghost Rider's power and physical strength have also been made very apparent when facing off against lesser adversaries such as gang members, one of whom had his spine get ripped out.

12 MAGNETO

Ian McKellen as Magneto

Magneto is the ultimate master of manipulation when it comes to magnetism. And considering one of his many powers includes being able to sense when metal is around him, you can rest assured he always knows how to find it. Magneto has been known to use this offensively, such as launching pieces of metal (or bullets) at enemies.

Magneto was even strong enough to alter the Earth's magnetic poles. On a defensive side, Magneto has been able to create shields out of magnetic energy and also has the ability to fly for when he needs to escape the situation. While not technically a power, the helmet that is worn by Magneto also makes him immune from telepathic abilities.

11 ODIN

Odin with Mjolnir in the first Thor film

Thor and Hela are both incredibly powerful, but neither of them would be able to come close to the power of their father, Odin. And while Odin may not have as big a role in the series as others, do not discredit the power that he possessed including twice sending Hela to Hel and being able to overpower the Fire Giant, Surtur.

It was also reported that Odin lived to be over 5,000 years old, something that helps back up the belief that many have, which is that he is the greatest warrior and leader that the Asgard's ever had.
