  • When Jerry Ordway rebooted the Marvel Family, DC wanted the characters firmly within the DCUniverse. 1 / 15

  • Ordway's first major DCU tie-in was to use the demonic Blaze from the Superman titles. 2 / 15

  • However, it appears as though Ordway was TOO close to the DC Universe! 3 / 15

  • You see, he accidentally had the same ending as DC's then-big crossover, Underworld Unleashed! 4 / 15

  • Underworld Unleashed saw the demonic Neron specifically target Captain Marvel. 5 / 15

  • Captain Marvel, though, was given some clever advice by the not-so-villainous Trickster. 6 / 15

  • Captain Marvel offered up his soul to Neron in exchange for the lives of his friends. 7 / 15

  • Neron couldn't turn down such a delicious offer, so he took Captain Marvel up on the deal. 8 / 15

  • The problem, though, was that a soul given out of noble circumstances was no good! 9 / 15

  • Neron was effectively destroyed by Captain Marvel's simply pure goodness! 10 / 15

  • That was how Ordway was going to end his Blaze storyline originally! 11 / 15

  • Obviously, though, the big crossover (written by Mark Waid) got precedence over Ordway's storyline. 12 / 15

  • So Ordway had to come up with another way to end his big three-part story. 13 / 15

  • It was well done, but just very different than his original plans. 14 / 15

  • Amusingly, Ordway believed he and Waid were both influenced by an old Thor/Mephisto story! 15 / 15
