WARNING: The following contains major spoilers for Mighty Morphin #3 by Ryan Parrott, Marco Renna, Walter Baiamonte, Katia Ranalli, and Ed Dukeshire, on sale now.

No matter which team of Power Rangers it is, they're all headed straight for one of the toughest fights of their lives. The Omega Rangers are tensely looking towards another encounter with the planet-destroying Empyreals, while back on Earth the Mighty Morphin team is up against a lethal new breed of Lord Zedd's Putties, foot soldiers who up until now have been nothing more than a minor annoyance on the battlefield.

Besides the secrets, betrayals, and ever-expanding list of devastating new enemies, the Rangers' own mentor Zordon might be setting the heroes on the fast track for a violent confrontation with one of the Rangers' few surviving veterans, Grace.

When the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers took the day to visit a music festival, their fun was ruined by the appearance of the Chaos Energy infused Putty Prime, who single-handedly fended off not only the core group of Rangers, but took their mysterious new Green ally down with hardly any effort. On top of one superpowered minion, nearly the entirety of the crowd at the festival soon reveals themselves to be among the Chaos Putty ranks, too, putting the heroes in the unenviable position of being outnumbered and underpowered.

The Mighty Morphin team is at least able to keep moving and take potshots at the mob of enemies, but the Green Ranger is surprisingly incapable of dodging a single punch, let alone landing any of his own. During the fight, Billy realizes the reason that their new ally is so outmatched, and it's because he is powered by the same Green Chaos Energy that this latest batch of Putties has been imbued with. Being so susceptible to the onslaught is more of a liability than anything, so Billy tells the Green Ranger to retreat to Promethea and that he will tell Grace Sterling everything she needs to know later on. Aisha sees this exchange, realizing that the secrets Billy has been keeping are far greater than she had originally imagined. When the rest of the Rangers retreat shortly after the Green Ranger does, they return to the command center. There, Alpha-5 is finally able to track the Green Ranger's energy signature back to Promethea, and the revelation sends team founder and mentor Zordon straight to one of his original Rangers in a fury.

Grace Sterling, the founder of Promethea, was Zordon's original Red Ranger and the leader of the first generation of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers all the way back in 1969. Her team was underprepared for the mission Zordon sent them on, and Grace watched her team get slaughtered on the moon by an enemy they never could have anticipated being so vicious. Grace was left understandably disillusioned by Zordon's casual attitude towards the deaths of what were, in essence, his own child soldiers that he thrust into a deadly situation without any real warning of what they were going up against.

It's been known that Billy and Grace were the ones behind the reappearance of the Green Ranger, but now that Zordon is aware of that fact, he has come calling on Grace to return the Green Dragon Power Coin before he sends his Rangers to take it by force. Grace knows that there isn't time for any of that now, and convinces Zordon to table the issue until the most impending threats facing their world are dealt with. Zordon agrees with her, but remains adamant that she return the Power Coin to him when their current battles are over

Grace doesn't seem worried in the slightest by Zordon's threats, though, even wishing his team the best if it should come to blows between herself and the current generation of Power Rangers. If Zordon does in fact go down this implied path, it could be the fight that finally tears the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers apart from the inside out, assuming Grace doesn't tear them to pieces herself before that even becomes a possibility.
