WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Mighty Morphin #9 Ryan Parrott, Marco Renna, Walter Baiamonte, Katia Ranalli, Sara Antonellini, Madison Goyette and Ed Dukeshire, on sale now.

The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers' world has been one filled with deeply held secrets and shocking revelations as of late, and almost every single one of them has threatened to shake the team to its core. Not only have the Rangers suffered from recent betrayals by their former teammates, but now it has become clear that one of their most beloved members, Billy, was partially behind the new Green Ranger.

The idea that Billy has spent months building his own Ranger behind their backs has drawn conflicting opinions from most of the team. Zordon, on the other hand, is already preparing to find a new Blue Ranger.

Despite their latest struggles, the Mighty Morphin team still has a home to protect from the leftovers of Lord Zedd's recent takeover of Angel Grove. When a familiar energy signature rings their alarm, the Power Rangers head to the park to investigate, just as Promethea's Green Ranger is arriving to do the same. As Billy sweeps the scene, Matthew and Tommy begin to trade barbs. Their attention is soon snapped back to the situation at hand, once Billy finds the Chaos Putty hiding in the crowd. Thankfully the heroes are more than capable of putting an end to the rogue monstrosity before anyone can get hurt. Unfortunately, the fight coming to an end proves to be as painful as any defeat when the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers leave for the Command Center without one of their own. To make matters worse, Billy doesn't know that this might just be the beginning of the end of his time on the team.

It has become common knowledge over the past few months that Billy Cranston was behind the theft of the Dragon Coin and the creation of the new Green Ranger with Grace Sterling's help. Since debuting as the Green Ranger, Matthew Cook has proven himself to be one of the Rangers' most capable allies so far. Apart from lending a hand to them with their Putty hunt, Matthew was instrumental in defeating Zedd's Dark Rangers as well as freeing Angel Grove from his villainous clutches.

This doesn't seem to matter much to Zordon, who has barred Billy from the Command Center on top of leaving him on his own. Zordon is already prepared to find a replacement for Billy as soon as the current threats to the team have been dealt with, and he does not seem interested in discussing the matter much further.

Billy's fellow Rangers are quick to speak up for him, despite being lied to by Billy during his time spent working with Promethea. It is a little bit surprising that Zordon would be so quick to let Billy go from the team considering he has been keeping his own secrets from the others in the form of the Phantom Ranger. Then again, Zordon has long been a bit of a self-aggrandizing figure, and this version of him is quick to inflate his own importance. Zordon might not realize it yet, but it is that exact ego that necessitated Billy keeping secrets from him in the first place. Thankfully, if Billy does get the boot, he can always make himself into a new kind of Power Ranger -- although it's probably best to hope that doesn't have to happen.
