In the lead up to the "Power Rangers: Shattered Grid" comic book crossover, original Green Ranger Jason David Frank returns to his role in a prequel video.

The video depicts Frank the corrupted Tommy Oliver, in the guise of Lord Drakkon, reviewing the exploits of past Power Ranger teams. He talks about how the Rangers have squandered their abilities and could have been so much more. They could have been gods. The video ends with the villain ready to wage war across multiple dimensions to prove how weak the heroes have become.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers comic book writer Kyle Higgins wrote and directed the short film. Higgins, Frank, J.J. Vazquez, and Ramon Palermo produced. Television composer Ron Wasserman provided music for the short.

The "Power Rangers: Shattered Grid” crossover was devised by from Boom! Studios to help celebrate the franchise's 25th anniversary. It all kicks off on March 28 with the release of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #25, written by Higgins with are from Daniele Di Nicuolo. The crossover will then continue in Go Go Power Rangers #9, written by Ryan Parrott with art from Dan Mora. Two additional tie-in one-shot comics will also be released.
